Every since I enrolled in Medicare, United Healthcare has been emailing, and calling me to schedule a House Call. This is being pitched as a benign visit by a health professional, presumably someone that represents United Healthcare to discuss my state of health and how to utilize my health plan to address any identified issues, but I am naturally suspicious of their benevolent tones.
All of us who pay attention understand that we now are living in a surveillance state. This unelected, and in my view unconstitutional 4th branch of government is trying to put all citizens under their thumb. Could it be that these so call health professional is scripted to ask clever questions designed to determine our political bent, vaccination status, to ascertain our stance on issues now labeled as subversively obdurate to a Marxist ideology.
Proverbs 21:23 tells us "Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble." By aged wisdom I have come to know that corporate representatives represent corporate (gov) interest. Because of this I am naturally suspicious that this United Healthcare offering angled to benefit me, is instead a sirens song luring me to my own demise.
My consistent reply thus far to UHC has been, not interested. I'll call you when I need something.
Any of you older patriots go through this process?
Yes. Exact same from Cigna. I gave the last rep a mouthful on Monday. Told him I had a pcp from which they can and do get every report. Am at an excellent weight, on no prescription meds and that I had a dying father an hour and a half away that I was trying to assist. I didn’t have time to make an appointment for them to come to my home, nor do I want them here. He was stuttering and stammering so bad! I also told him that I felt they were being intrusive to the point of making me extremely uncomfortable and damn angry and I would be canceling Cigna during open enrollment. I’m considering not going with any of them. Wonder what’s up with this?
I'm not sure what there end intent is but I am very suspicious if for no other reason that they seem to be persistent in trying to push this on me.
I, same as you gave them a what for. "I need you, I'll let you know otherwise quit intruding upon me for unsolicited services." I like you also am normal weight, and healthy I have a good mind to agree to the offering, but require that they meet me at the local mall. After all, if all they want to do it talk about my health, my state of being, why come to my home?
I don’t trust them. At all
My mother went through this and it was actually a good thing for her They ordered her a hover-round scooter and paid for it, they ordered meals on wheels for her and they gave her hand rails to have installed in the bathrooms. They also scheduled some home health people to come give her therapy to get her more mobile but she turned that down.
You mean they did not try to access her hot water thermostat setting, or if she had any guns.
Beware of any government benefit. There's always strings attached. Medicare sends me stuff in the mail all the time. I will not oblige or will I ever use it. One of the reasons is for what you just described.
Correct. As we all know, ain’t no free lunches out there
Yea, one would 'think' that everyone knows this, but then again common sense is no longer common.
Throw back their own Covid scamdemic on them. :>)
"We are NOT allowing anyone into our home at this time due to Covid. Period. It doesn't matter to us who you represent or what you want. You are not allowed onto our property or into our home while Covid (or one of the variants) is still a possibility."
"Whatever you want can be discussed by phone."
I work for aetna medicare. They are doing the same thing. Big push for the home health visits. Usually, i have members turn it down or request aetna stop calling so much.
Yup, they call all the time to schedule a home visit. We tell them to pound sand.
I wonder if they’re going after those of us who refused the jab?
I work with DME, we take UHC / Medicare... I've never heard of an Insurance Company doing an house call. Can you tell us more about it?

Thank you for the link. This seems very suspicious to me, for all the reasons you listed in your post. Yeah, maybe it's a good thing and probably very helpful for some less mobile people. But what kind of information could be gathered to use against you? Smart to be cautious.
What’s DME? Basically exactly what op said.
Durable Medical Equipment. CPAP machines, Ventilators, Enteral Supplies (tube feeding), Oxygen Monitors, Wheelchairs / Walkers, etc.
This is a sales pitch. They REALLY want to know your income as well so they can enroll you in medic-aid. State funded. The doctors love this cuz medicaid pays for Everything! But if you own any assets, like a house, it's the states. It is huge, huge money for docs and hospitals. One of my client's family was POed because he signed over the house and the family thought they should have it. All they had to do was help pay for his deductible but nope.... A few years ago many people were selling all the assets and then put the old person on welfare (medicaid) and the family got the assets and the state ate the expense. Well they put a stop to that, thankfully. Personally if I can't afford to pay the medical bills then maybe I'll just die. Wouldn't that be awful! There are worse things than dying!
Follow the money is usually right. I just tell them, "When I need you, I will call, otherwise leave me along." They make it sound like the housecall is all because they care about my health. We'll fuck them, I wasn't born yesterday.
Amen to that. I can't stand dealing with doctors! $$$ I think they FU more than not. Dealing with an issue with my husband now. If they had just done what we had asked all would be fine, I'm sure, had the same problem before with no issues, but now we think maybe they know what they're talking about. BS -My husband could lose his arm now because of them. and their "I know best attitude!" , prick.
Prayers! Stand strong fren.
I had Aetna. They insisted 'their policy, my plan' for home health visit. At first I said I was burglarized 2 times before so now I dont let anyone other than family in. They said a nurse with all ID and credentials will come. I said O yeah, 1 person who robbed me was a nurse, the other was a minister.
Then since covid I would tell them if I couldnt see a doctor when I needed one, then I cant see a nurse when you need it done. (its only free for me because they collect from Medicare for the visit)
I get at least 30 calls a day from some Medicare plan center. I have fun with them. 1- they have an old address for me so I call them frauds 2-they ask if I own or rent so I ask them if they do, which is better, what neighborhood do you live in. 3-they ask my age. I say if you are from Medicare you know my age. 4-why are you asking me personal questions. For calls today I will stop them and say 'hold on' then just set the phone down until they hang up.
Just yesterday was talking with someone about this. She said she calls them back 10 times. When they finally asks why (they have some way to see) she says you waste my time, I waste yours more.
Keep in mind if you didnt initiate the request there is a VERY good chance its a scam.
Wow 30 calls a day, that is outright harassment. I was getting a good amount of RNC calls from 202 area code so I downloaded an app named Truecaller that allows me to block numbers by wildcard value. Like I can block any number that starts 1-202 which I do, or I could block numbers like 1-202-998-xxx. It's free so I get an add every now and then but definitely worth the trouble.
Sounds like you're having fun with it so good for you.
Thanks for the advice. Problem is I get calls from all over the US,
Clinics are reimbursed per member per month $ amount for Medicare Advantage Plan patients.
Metrics must be met, for example BP within limits, Diabetes managed evidenced by blood test A1C below certain %, pts taking medicines as ordered, etc, to receive maximum reimbursement.
Thus, many clinics and docs strive to bring care to pts if pts on their panels, assigned to them, do not come into the office for care. For those with health issues, this safety net is very beneficial. There are many providers that truly want people to be as healthy as possible.
I haven't used my medicare since I first got it. Tell you the truth, I don't trust doctors one iota.
I'm a nurse and I rarely go either, lol
Makes me think they want to try to sell you supplemental insurance for medicare, so it'd be Medicare as your primary and UHC as your secondary.
Sounds like a smart move to me.
These people know that the visit is covered by Medicare insurance and it is an underutilized benefit, so they call and try to schedule a visit. If a person can't get to a Dr and really needs to see one, then a home visit is great. However, if you don't need a visit and you schedule one anyway, then you are wasting the people's (Medicare) money.
