People used to make salads with DL during the great depression.
Eat up
My Pennsylvania Dutch grandmother made salads with dandelion leaves. She also used it in cooking meat pies. Her cousins actually had a dandelion farm. Chewing the leaves is suppose to whiten teeth.
I have a dandelion farm too, are you sure your cousins just didn’t like mowing their yard.
They actually grew dandelions and guess what their worse weed was? Grass.
Dandelion was originally brought to North America as a food source.
It is now widely known as a nuisance weed but it still has many medicinal and nutritional properties.
Very interesting.
We ate them my whole life growing up. I van still see them soaking in my grandmother's sink in salt water. .my great gramps made wine frome them.
