She says her parents immigrated to the U.S. for a better life because they were starving in India. Why? Because hundreds of years ago non-Indian people commenced trade and commerce with India which led India to choose to become a manufacturing hub of food, spices, drugs, and other merchandise. Yes, that sounds terrible /sarc. The commerce and trade brought wealth to parts of India that did not exist before. But how would she know? She was born in the U.S.

She is ignorant of the other reasons India suffers. They have massive overpopulation, a caste system that penalizes the citizens for life, and a lack of universal sewer & water infrastructure. That is why parts of her ancestral country still have people defecating in the streets as they have no toilet facilities.
