So honoring the flag and our service members by covering our hearts and with salutes is bad too? Folly
I guess the only difference is the flag and pledge of allegiance is for ALL Americans and everyone knows what it is, and why it's done. The 1 finger thing was new to me and many here. The first thing I saw was a salute to God ( haven't watched the rally). But I got a quick outsiders reaction ( perspective) to this action because I haven't seen the rally yet. Muslims do this sometimes, and so did isis. Of course even if people were doing it because WWG1WGA, media will see this https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/isis-what-story-behind-islamic-state-one-fingered-salute-1506249.
Wouldn't the 1 finger signify WWG1WGA which is unity between all man? What's more unifying and inclusive than that?
I don't think something representing unity is bad regardless of if it does what's its meant to do
What flag were they honoring at the rally though? A flag with no stars on it. As to say there's no longer states in America. It symbolizes the states don't have sovereignty anymore.
You even compare a finger point to a salute? $1000 says you've never served.
Your analogy is false.
Military salute is a worldwide recognized respect.
A hand over the heart is a Nationwide, acknowledged pledge.
A finger point has no history or tradition in this country and it is exclusive, as in, only has meaning for a particular group within the larger group.
Drop the symbols.
Do you understand what separates societal norms from cultish behavior? Sometimes it is granular and not so easy to pick out, even though on the surface you might say "They're the same". They're vastly different.
