I know I’m not the only Floridian on here, so I would request prayers for all of us.
My fiancé and I just purchased our new home in Tampa. We are getting married next week out of state and won’t be home to see the damage until mid-October. A hurricane was not on our radar and we are not from Fl, so it’s hard to know what to expect. Please pray that our home withstands the storm. Please pray that our windows do not break and our A/C does not go out. We want to avoid mold especially since we’ll be gone.
I’m feeling a bit helpless and depressed and am really hoping for some good news. Thanks anons <3
Lord - please wrap your loving hands around this home keeping it safe from any damage from wind and rain. Give it strong bones to last a lifetime for this young couple in love with a future- may you bring them many babies to fill the space. Amen
Thank you so much. <3
If you bought a home you must have purchased home insurance. I dont know about the US but here in Canada if you purchase a home you have no choice but to get insurance.
We did get insurance. We’re not so worried about paying for it all, God would not have given us this house, if we couldn’t handle it. A lot of our worry is being gone for so long without being able to assess and address the damage. We literally know 1 person down there (our realtor) and can’t expect her to do our damage control. There are so many variables and we have no idea what to expect. And we aren’t down there now to prepare.
dont worry god will be good to you
enjoy this time in your life ....make memories that last a life time
God is so good. He will get us through. Thank you, my friend.
I know the exact feeling and its quite horrible, for me it was a forest fire rather than a hurricane. Powerlessness, that sickening leaden feeling in the pit of your stomach, hoping that when you get to your new home that all is well.. and its still there.
Prayers for both you and your guy.
Thank you very much.
I feel you! My brother just got married and they are at Daytona beach and I am hoping it is just rain by the time it hits them.
My prayers are with them! Congrats and best wishes the the newlyweds! May God bless them and their marriage!
You and yours are on my prayer list. Despite the concern you must be feeling, remember to celebrate this special day and time and our Lord who brought you together.
Thank you! We will definitely put aside our worries for the day we’ve been looking forward to for almost 5 years!!
Ian means "God is gracious." May He be gracious to you and preserve your home.
I love that and I am claiming it.
Good to know. A coworker sent me a reliable weather tracking site. It looks like the worst we’ll get is 40 mph winds. I have no idea what that means?
40 mph winds means your lawn furniture may travel to the neighbors. We got wind gusts like that in the last month I lost my easy-up and an old tree went down.
The more you know. Thanks!
I live in your area. If your home is newish your windows hopefully will hold up. But ... you will loose your electric. Count on that. Another anon traveling N to Kentucky mentioned all the Electric Companies from out of state manned on the Ga boarder ready to come in and help us out. That was a bit of good news to me; hang on to it. Please enjoy your wedding and honeymoon; nothing you can change by worrying
Totally agree. Not much we can do. But we’re considering skipping the honeymoon to come down and assess the damage. We’ll just have to see
If it were me I would compromise and just cut the honeymoon short but don't skip it. Whether you are there the day after your wedding or a month later isn't going to change what has already happened. Maybe call your insurance company and tell them you will be out of town and may have damage, and let them know why your damage report will be slower. Can't hurt, and they probably expect you to be late if you just moved to FL and haven't experienced the whole insurance/FEMA thing yet.
Don't let this ruin your wedding or honeymoon - there's nothing you can do. If you skip and try to honeymoon later it won't be the same as being a newlywed.
Unless you are within walking distance to the water you are probably going to be ok.
Pay some one to board up your windows like right now, immediately.
Do you have any recommendations on who could do that for us?
That’s a great point. Thank you
A local handyman would be your best shot since you're new to the area. Might be hard now as it's already windy and raining. But I'd try to find someone online.
I will agree, as a fellow Floridian who has family in the Tampa area. Praying for Protection for your home and that the worst part of the storm hits unpopulated area.
Good reminder, I'll add all those in the storm's path to my prayers.
