Force and coercion are very similar.
If you are told take it or lose your job, and the person knows they won't last a month without the income, they might as well have been strapped down.
A meaningless distinction.
Fact check: True
Which is why coercion, by name, is a listed CRIME in most jurisdictions (well, maybe not in modern-day California, but still . . .)
Fact check: False.
Yes, force and coercion are similar, but where coercion doesn't involve physical force or the threat thereof, then a distinction remains and it is not meaningless. Coercion (loss of job, being barred from school, etc) is powerful but as thousands of pureblood pedes can attest, you CAN refuse to bow to coercion and avoid the jab regardless of the consequences. Initiated coercion is evil but not quite at the level of physical force or violence.
Frankly, I agree. Many of us were able to cope with those things to where the coercion was a less weighted threat.
Someone living paycheck to paycheck with dependants, that may not have been anything of a choice, in those circumstances the coercion would be the same force as if they got strapped to the chair.

Your intellectual laziness to differentiate is a microcosm of the root of the evil in the world.
It's not intellectual laziness, I understand that there is a difference. The fact is that there are people who simply don't have enough backup to even gamble on finding a new job...
We say it’s not force in spite of that fact, not because we don’t know such obvious things. You said it’s meaningless, but it’s not. Asleep = can’t differentiate (perceive difference) between things.
You're right, meaningless was the wrong term.
It's not meaningless at all. I understand coercion and yes, this whole thing has been a shitshow powergrab and they will all hang. But to say they may as well have been strapped down is far from the truth. She took it because she was afraid of being homeless is my guess. So she gave more power to the DS by taking the shot.
If everyone quit their jobs that were threatening them instead of caving, this shit wouldn't have lasted a week. If everyone refused to wear a face diaper from the beginning, this wouldn't have lasted a week.
It's people who care more about creature comforts than their own lives who took this shit so far. She caved. Period.
Perhaps meaningless was the wrong word, I mean, for me, I could probably get by without a job for a few years. There are a shocking number of people who are paycheck to paycheck with dependants, for them, it's not even just a math of creature comforts.
