They were staunchly fighting communists. Also they burned liberal and communist books. I don't want to speculate too further with comparisons because the liberals will say "Aha!"
You are completely missing the principle here. As OP states they "are both far-left socialists." Full stop, that's it. Nazism is NOT "far right" and anyone right of far-left is now labeled such/both. It's infuriating and yet your average normie NPC sheep hears "far right" and that's the end of it...we're a bunch of Nazis and that's as far as they need to think about it.
This simple yet effective bit of propaganda is probably one of the very worst for the cause of liberty/conservatism etc. By your argument, if "far right" was in fact a bunch of Nazis, it would still be OK if we went totalitarian Nazi because at least it's not communism. To which I say FUCKING DUH.
The fascists and communists were never fighting over ideology, they were fighting over power. If there were another fascist movement within 1930's Germany, Hitler would have targeted them as enemies too. We know this because Hitler ordered the assassination of any NSDAP (Nazi) party member who could pose a political threat to him. He killed hundreds of party members who were loyal to him. A true ideologue would not be motivated to do this.
The communists were no different. They had their own Night of Long Knives where they assassinated hundreds of loyal party members. Also, Stalin had a pleasant relationship with Hitler as long as he limited his conquest to Europe.
These authoritarian movements are never truly about ideology. That's for the rubes and common folk to believe. It's always about power.
And the communists fought against socialists and burned socialist books, doesn't make them "right wing". Joseph Goebels writings are basically the same as Bernie Sanders. You can change the author and not realize.
There's a few theories that they were fighting the deep state of their day. Not that I totally believe this, but wouldn't be surprised at this point after what they write about Trump.
The nazis hated communists because it was their direct competition for power. They were both totalitarian forms of government. The main distictions between Fascists and Communists is that Communism sees the world as a class struggle and does not allow for much if any private ownership, while Fascists are militantly nationalistic and do allow for private ownership so long as it is deemed beneficial to the State. The Stae is supreme in both systems and therefore they both rightfully should exist on the extreme left of the political spectrum along with other forms that severely limit individual freedom.

See earlier reply.

It says “socialism” right in the name. They were fat leftists.
Apparently they also burned faggotry books.
By this logic the English and French have never fought because both were monarchies.

"And the communists fought against socialists and burned socialist books..."
They did? When?
"Joseph Goebels writings are basically the same as Bernie Sanders."
Errr... Have you ever actually read them?
Many times bruv, here is one instance on International Children's day.
I may have exaggerated a little, it was a long time ago I read goebels, but he hated capitalism as much as Bernie.
I'm not saying that Bernie hasn't been right about certain things either. Bernie even tried a short bid against abortion.
There's a few theories that they were fighting the deep state of their day. Not that I totally believe this, but wouldn't be surprised at this point after what they write about Trump.
People can be right while being wrong. Humanity is messy. Here, read this.
Exactly! ((They've)) have been attacking Hitler ever since the war just like they currently do with Trump.
Based on the whole "whoever the media attacks the most is over the target" belief, then Hitler must have been WAY over the target.
Two biggest smear campaigns in history. Hitler and Trump. Both threatened ((their)) way of life.
