And - I know this sucks- but what happens when someone is falsely convicted of rape? Guys it happens more often than it should
Nigeria's justice system is surprisingly fair and intelligent about this stuff. and the culture is such that most suspects would be able to get a "yeah he was at church that day" or "he was riding in a truck at that time" because, even though there's hundreds of millions of people everyone seems to know each other.
^^ from a missionary that served for 20 years in West Africa, can't remember his name since it was a couple years ago and we've switched churches.
Absolutely this, just think of that "Me too" BS... There would have to be irrefutable DNA evidence for this to happen and even then it can be messed with in court.. I still agree with the punishments though.
Imagine if a black woman false accuses white maga man of raping her.
Think he'd get a fair trial in a lot of cities?
False accusations can lead to false convictions and false capital punishment. This is why any cases with this kind of punishment on the table needs extreme scrutiny and a lack of emotional bias.
If even one falsely accused, innocent person is held or killed for crimes they did not commit, that is a total dereliction of justice.
Whether it is about rape of a child or not, it is important that the person who stands accused is actually the one who deserves punishment. If you cannot see beyond the emotions and understand that point, then you are retarded.
Forensic and DNA evidence are not perfect monoliths either, and have been thwarted...and you seem to still have faith that they don't get used to frame the wrong people, including by the very people investigating.
