New photos show that Arizona Democratic gubernatorial nominee Katie Hobbs participated in and led her high schoolβs yearly βSlave Dayβ tradition, which appears to mirror the African slave trade that Democrats fought to preserve in the American Civil War. T...
To do this to children is abominable! The vast vast majority of their and our ancestors put NO ONE in chains. This is unspeakable.
I don't recall having 'Slave Day' when I was in school...π€
My high school actually had a slave dance, where students got to bid on other students and they got to boss their "slaves" around for the week. This was in the mid-80's, and even as a high school student who was not woke I found this pretty horrifying. By my senior year enough students complained and it was replaced with some other theme. I don't know how old Katie Hobbs is, but I'm guessing my high school wasn't the only one who thought this all in good fun. On its own it's high school stupidity, but given the crap leftist dig up and outright fabricate, I have no issue with Kari Lake making hay about this.
Now that you mention that, I do recall being able to 'purchase' the services of other students, but it was totally voluntary and was done as a fundraiser for some worthy cause... I'm sure the word 'slave' came up, but don't really remember.
In hindsight, there were other fundraising options that may have been better options, but I don't think there was any malicious intent.
I think it is silly for us to judge school-age kids for actions taken in a different time - societal norms have changed considerably.
As an example, I could care less about Trudeau in blackface, even though I despise him and think he is ruining my country. I do, however, get a good laugh at him (and others) being held accountable based on his own ridiculous standards.
Our slave dance was a similar premise, raising money for class funds, etc. In truth I didn't participate because I wasn't jazzed about being made to do humiliating things, and I wasn't Machiavallian enough to make others do humiliating things. It does feel like we're devolving by resorting to this type of attack, but I'm also tired of watching the GOP roll over and let the left stomp on them. I guess we'll find out if this type of fighting back helps us in November.
Katie is toast.
If you vote for Lake.........then you ain't a slave............
Iβm no fan of a Democrat, but so what? We all did stupid shit in high school and/or college.
Definitely not a Katie fan, but it kinda seems like "The Daily Mail" and "The Gateway Pundit" are grasping for straws with this one.
People get cancelled for ANY mistake made on their personal media. IIRC - the woke crowd went nuts when Joe Rogan used the N word on some of his much older podcasts. Hold the WOKE crowd to the same standard they apply to us.
Not backing down is one thing. But creating a story where one doesn't exist drags us down to their level and makes us as bad/stupid as them. Two wrongs do not make a right. There are plenty REAL negative things she has said and done to demonstrate her allegiances, beliefs and un-fitness for office without having to resort to tabloid-like fabricated dirt that can serve as ammo for "them" to discredit us and "prove" how unhinged, delusional and desperate we are.
Correct. It's like Kavanaugh 2.0. I wouldn't dare run for office and I don't think I did anything really bad in school! Now, the racism/sexism charge is fair game and should be taken into account.
Context is TGP trying to say she was always racist?
