Jesus did have an guard armed with swords, but when it came time for his arrest, Peter used one and got rebuked for cutting off the ear lobe of a solider. All that action did was grant Jesus a few more minutes of freedom as he healed that soldier's ear.
So you're saying Jesus would have had at least 3 more days if Peter used an AR-15
Yes because he would have raised the soldiers from the dead on the third day and then they would have killed him. But that wouldn't have fulfilled bible prophecy because Jesus had to die during the passover.
But Peter with an AR-15? We are talking the Mel Gibson remake version of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," made with Homer Simpson's help, where his character goes crazy shooting up the US Senate.
Yes, Jesus came to lay His life down, it was His purpose. When He comes again, that will be a different story 🙏 I love the visual in the music video by Crowder! https://youtu.be/cdcjcFBKwd4
It's too kind to say Peter "used" the sword. The sense is more like he was in a blind panic and just started swinging it all around him (death blossom). That's why the dude's ear of all things was lopped off, that's not the kind of injury from reasonable swordsmanship... it wasn't like Peter was thinking "Damn I better go for that least threatening guy's ear before my master is harmed!" This whole crowd was the full armed guard of the most powerful men in Israel. So in no time Peter along with the rest scattered into the night. Being armed was not really an advantage at all in this situation. For roadside robbers, wild animals, etc sure.
That explanation makes sense. Peter later denied Jesus three times and then ran away crying.
Just so you understand the context
Matthew 26:31 Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’
Luke 22:31-32 Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”
