If he wants to lose weight he does need the will to do it on his own. But since you are cooking for him, it sounds like you have a huge amount of influence. I am a big believer in bite size chunks. Literally in this case:) That means eating less of the dessert items . Sugar is completely addictive. I suspect if he cuts that out, the pounds will drop off. Also cutting back on the beer and alcohol will make a big difference. However cutting sugar is easier said than done. Since you like to bake you can wean him gradually be providing healthier desserts, more fruit & less sweetened cereals. Baking with natural sweeteners like maple syrup and coconut sugar are a good way to gradually wean off the sugar addiction. Gradual is better to wean the tastebuds, depending on what style of baking you have done. You can start by substituting part of the sugar in a recipe with a healthier choice. Gradually incorporating more fresh fruit and vegetables and eating healthier and healthier over time can help the cravings lessen.
Lastly he needs to accept and love himself as he is. That means stop criticizing and judging himself saying he is obeast! He is doing the best he can and best wishes to you both!
Taking magnesium supplement can stop sugar and chocolate cravings
I’m not disagreeing, it has never had that effect on me.
mental note to self: avoid magnesium.
I appreciate that! He doesn't look down on himself for his weight. ;) He needs a nudge to get going with fat burning exercise and giving up the comfort foods.
