Midterms around the corner, your thoughts on the Nevada candidates??
MIDTERMS DISCUSSION
I’ve been seeing polls where Reps are in large lead (not factoring independents or undecided either) NV people’s, what are your thought on the candidates and should we watch out for anything??
P.S. this may be one of many threads to come! Participation is appreciated
Regarding Question 3: https://dailycallernewsfoundation.org/2022/10/15/snead-the-left-is-pushing-to-reshape-voting-systems-across-america-heres-why/
Thank you! I didn't realize it meant ranked voting. Will definitely vote no!
Q1 and Q2 are also a "no" for me. Q1 is about adding more language to the equal opportunity clause in the NV constitution, including making it possible to "interpret" men as being able to participate in women's sports. They also muddle things by using the word "creed" to generally refer to religion, which I don't like.
Q2 is about constitutionally requiring minimum wage, even though the legislature already passed this same measure as law (to start in 2024). I could be wrong, but my general reaction to min wage has been a "no", anyway.
I usually vote no to anything that wants to change the Constitution. Leave it the hell alone.
Democrats trying to fig the system. Look at states that already have jungle primaries, like CA. Since they went to ranked primaries in CA, Republicans have basically been shoved out.
True but Republicans have also gotten in when it is one versus four democrats in heavily democrat regions
We have ranked choice for local elections in my town. Prior to ranked choice, we had probably a 40% (R), 60% (D) split on city council and the Mayor would flip back and forth between parties pretty regularly. Since ranked choice, we have 100%(D) city council and have the same Dem Mayor (that most people pretty much hate) for the last 4 election cycles. We'll have one strong (R) contender to a position, one or two dem candidates, then like 5 R candidates (Some of which are Dem plants) that all split the R vote leading to a dem win after about 6 rounds of elimination. It's obviously rigged but the dems in control foisted the system on us without a vote.
Spread the word. It means ranked choice
