It's a soft (not to be confused with ineffective) form of social credit. They make up the rules, embedded in the algorithms and sorting categorization they use, to suit their own personal goals and pursuits and wouldn't hesitate to manually alter your score permanently if it helps them out in a minuscule way for just one single minute.
