And if the military does nothing, Trump's request will be not even a footnote in history. That's like promising an atomic explosion and delivering a water-logged cap pistol. "Oh, please, pretty please, Mr. Military, pull our irons out of the fire."
If that's what it is, it will be even more of a fizzle than announcing for 2024.
He has to speak from strength. Strength is irreversible. So, it should be more than an announcement about the future. It will have to involve a fait accompli (i.e., Nothing can stop what is going to happen).
I was responding to the notion that he would "ask the military." Ordering the military is a completely different kettle of fish. That puts it into the realm of fait accompli: "I have ordered..." (Notice that it is still important to put it in the past tense, not the future tense.)
If, according to the devolution hypothesis, he is President-in-Exile, he may introduce the relevant head of the military (I can't believe it would be Miley) to announce an Operation that has been activated upon the occurrence of legitimizing conditions. This would legally get him off the hook for being accused of a coup. Good optics...although in my book, "good optics" would be a blinding flash (and a deafening report).
Mr. Trump is going to ask the military to step in tomorrow night.

There's a lot of evidence that DJT remains CinC - although there's no open source proof at this time.
If he is CinC and orders the military to act there will definitely be a response.
