But the pushers are taking advantage of the depravity of the addicts, which is much worse, and, if it weren't for the pushers, there wouldn't be so many overdose deaths. Where would addicts get their drugs if there were no pushers?
They'd find a way, trust me lol. Just as an example: let's say all the drug dealers disappeared one day, users could simply start making their own or find legal highs. Benzedrex inhalers are already popular amongst meth and former meth users, Imodium AD for opiate users, hallucinogen users can grow their own spores or just buy morning glory flower seeds.
I know that isn't necessarily your point but I'm just saying that certain types of people will always try to find a way to instantly change how they feel inside.
I understand that that would happen, but the drug dealers are like child porn purveyors. It's one thing to be some sick child porn watcher, but those makers of child porn are not only hurting the children, they are promoting the viewing of it, and in doing so, allowing more people to view it, and likely increasing the number of people who watch it. The old "the first hit is free" adage associated with heroin dealers has a lot of truth to it.
Not the ones I knew haha. But I don't doubt it having truth to it.
You make good points. Maybe in time I'd be more receptive. The honest truth though is that I'm still less than six months into recovery and throughout many years of using I strongly believed everyone should have the right to choose and therefore thought of dealers as providing that choice (while still recognizing some as undeniable scumbags). I already no longer feel as strongly in these beliefs anymore though.
No, the person buying the drugs and taking the drugs is responsible.
