This is frightening, but sadly believable. I had a 5th grade teacher who groomed me. I did not understand what he was doing, just felt uncomfortable. Years later I heard he had been arrested/jailed for molesting a junior high girl.
I also heard a few stories from JHS schoolmates about inappropriate behavior from teachers.
When I worked as a teacher's aide, there were stories of teachers who groomed female students and later married them.
it's very simple, they blur/remove the line of demarcation between what is an adult and what is a child. It all starts with language, and behavior, they speak like kids and act like kids which then has the kid thinking they are an adult b/c "they are being treated like one", not understanding that the situation is 180 degrees opposite, the groomer has taken on the guise of child which leads to manipulation. The rest of what happens is rather obvious from that point.
It won't start out as something big. First, they'll try to get you to trust them. They look for people who are vulnerable. The biggest thing most pedos avoid are children with fathers. Pedos in interviews say that when they chose their targets they avoid children who had fathers at home.
Single mother households are big target for groomers. They want you to depend on them. After that step, they'll start to slip in stuff. Maybe a joke here or there. A term slipped in. "Oh no did I leave this dirty pic on the table. I confiscated that from a student. You were meant to see that." Always an excuse to drop your barriers. They build to the final phase. By the time you're there you won't realize how it could go so far.
I go to schools every week to help and don’t see anything wrong in the schools I went so far. People are very respectful and care about the children like me.
I can only really speak about my own experience. At the time I did not understand what my teacher was doing. I was a 5th grader.
From time to time, he wrote notes to me which he had students in my row pass down to me. The notes said things like "Smile. You're beautiful. Are you my friend?" I was sometimes bullied by other kids because of this.
Sometimes he ordered me to stay behind in the classroom when other students were going out to play during recess. He pulled up a chair and sat very very close to me. It was just the two of us in the classroom. He took a pencil and stroked my arm up and down with it. He spoke in a quiet voice and acted as if he were trying to "help" me and correct some of my "bad" behaviors.
I was an early bloomer, and this may be why he targeted me. I did not tell anyone, because, even though his behavior made me uncomfortable, I simply did not know what to report, nor who to report it to.

Round these parts the girls start sneaking around w/coaches before graduating and marry them after.

Today, I understand this was grooming behavior.
This is not good.,
