What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
So is anyone awake? I am … I’m alone in a large house on a big property and without power. In the dead of winter in the far north alone during a snow event...
Thankfully my husband installed a generac and it has come on and off three times today. With this last power outage the longest.
My thought is, should you keep the lights on the outside and alert anyone to the fact you have power, besides the fact you can hear the generator running, or do you go dark and be vigilant?
I’m alone in a large house on a very dark mountain. And armed and trained.
Edit to add that I am trained in firearms, but not what to do in this situation?
Keep the lights on, or turn them off.
I’m a little late to reply. I’m finally sleeping good. I’m not an expert but I say lights on outside. Some people might think twice before creeping around in a well lit area. Lights off inside because they can see inside. Also if lights on inside you can’t see outside. When I’m here alone I might have a low light lamp or nightlight. Also leave TV on if you have enough power on generator. Be safe.
I myself would keep the lights on as an indicator that you are OK and don't need help. Otherwise someone who is helpful and knows that the house is there, may try to come check on you after not seeing any lights. Every area is different, so it's hard to know. A good analogy is how drivers in the less populated western US will often stop to check on a disabled vehicle on a highway because of survival concerns for the occupants, while drivers in the eastern US will likely not stop to check on a vehicle due to personal safety concerns.
I hope you get an answer.
Never even considered a situation like this - sounds like a movie.
I'd probably leave the lights off just to lighten the load. But not sure of the necessity, as I imagine a generator for your scenario is far more robust than the one I have for hurricanes...
I. Don't. Know! God Bless 🙏
And fuck - the lights just went on and off even with the generator running?
How does that happen?
