Im trying to explain to my wife there is no way some of these cereals she is buying for our kids, don't contain HFCS. But she showed me the box and it just says Fructose now. Or some others say "corn syrup". Can anyone tell me if these tricky bastards have just changed what they are calling it to confuse consumers? Links appreciated!!

Fructose is a fruit sugar. Problem with any fructose is, that only liver can process it, and thus, is actually processed similar to alcohol: high priority, anything unprocessed is toxic, triggers fatty liver (cirrhosis). With natural fruits, enough fiber to slow down the release; in fruit juices and at any level or subsequent evaporation -- toxicity kicks in.
Weaning off sugar is a hard process.
Regular table sugar is 50/50 fructose/glucose. "High" Fructose Corn Syrup is 55/45 fructose/glucose. If it was really just fructose it'd have to be 100%.
cereal is not good for you, carbs arent necessary unless you're an athlete, give them protein for breakfast (eggs, sausage, bacon...)
No links but I wouldn’t trust them. We started eating oatmeal or eggs, cooked ourselves. Easier to keep the fat off.
IIRC oats have the highest levels of glyphosate of any food product. Even “organic”.
Perhaps you can switch (gradually if need be) to eggs, bacon, ham, lunch meat, etc. for breakfast. Make "protein boxes" like Starbucks, for example: hard boiled eggs, any cheese, blueberries, plain yogurt with berries. The boxes can be made in advance and the kids can help make them. If you give your children chocolate, I humbly suggest a sugar free chocolate I personally get for myself. I am keto so I purchase from choczero.com I cannot say enough good things about this company. I do not like white chocolate. I tried a white chocolate covered peanut butter cup from this company and fell in love with their white chocolate. My kids love the chocolate from here too (double dipped chocolate coconut covered almonds). I wish I knew everything I know now decades ago. I would have raised them keto/carnivore.
Diet only needs one rule to make a step change and that is eliminating all added-sugar or processed product. You'll never to do it, but that has to be the goal to stand a chance.
Fructose is just another type of sugar. High fructose corn syrup is corn syrup that is high in fructose. That's it. It's corn sugar in syrup versus cane sugar.
