He's 80 years old. You start getting your SS at 62, I think. And you can draw SS and work at the same time.
So he's already been getting SS for awhile now.
His mother and father died at ages 74 and 73 (roughly), respectively. Vegas oddsmakers should ring in on ol' Mitch's odds of completing the final four years of his current term, by which time he'll be nearly 85.
There really should be mandatory retirement ages for politicians. There is no reason for him to still be working.
Agree about the age limitation, for the most part. As for Mitch, there is a reason he lingers, but it isn't an honest one.
I started collecting SSA at age 66 (formerly it was 65).
They have been upping full retirement age one month per year of life for many years now. Mine is up to 66 1/2 years. My wife's is up to 67. I don't know what age they will max it out at.
