I also remembered a thing from the 90s when some company in China was using human hair to make soy sauce - something to do with hair having a similar protein? Interestingly, I looked it up recently and it is now "fact-checked" that such a thing never happened. But as the good Doctor said: CHINA ALWAYS LIES!
But unless that's followed by a massive surge of death, why would anyone care? If you've been scare-mongered about a disease for years, and then you get it and are back to normal in two weeks, that isn't a very good way to make you beg daddy to Government you harder, is it?
The topics on that page seem incoherent: there are 248 million, but the health authority isn't updating; hospitals are jammed, but the trend is learning to live with it; white lung is back as with the original outbreak [note, I have had white-out Xrays from --something-- and it was bad, but here I am], no note of treatment ; 139 subvariants of omicron, but Shanghai is having a Christmas market.
There was supposed to be some huge panic but in the videos I watched, people are just standing around in lineups, just like a normal day. And I posted recently about the government starting up community restaurants. Why would they be pushing for strangers to get together to eat if everything is so dangerous/contagious? And Chinese New Year is just a few weeks away.
One of the biggest mistakes the West ever made was getting involved with that country. A culture with a strong belief in "saving face" and that it's okay to lie and cheat to get ahead. What could go wrong?
