I'd still be complaining about States Rights, but mainly, I'd be pointing out that ALL Slaves, brought over, from wherever, China, Africa, Ireland, England, Scottland, just to name a few, receive Forced Naturalization in the process, and as such, their Children become Natural Born Citizens, which means that ALL SLAVES, in any of the Various States, would be State Citizens, and their Owners are not only kidnapping them, but also Practicing Unlawful Detention, and a myriad of other Crimes....
But then, the Southerners seen these facts via Bible Studies a very long time ago....
""If they had won, they were going to do the exact thing you claim they were against. They were going to make slavery a federal issue and force states to adopt it.""
I don't know where you got that piece of mental Gymnastics, but absolutely Nobody believes that, or anything connected to that, because it cannot be both a States Rights issue, and a Forced Issue....
I addition to my argument which you cannot get around (that the southern democrats wanted to federalise slavery) another argument will be this: that the constitution did give the federal government power to regulate slavery including making it illegal.
it was already regulating slavery at the federal level.
The United States Constitution granted Congress the power to regulate the institution of slavery in several ways. One of the most significant provisions was the Fugitive Slave Clause, which was included in Article IV, Section 2 of the Constitution. This clause stated that "No Person held to Service or Labour in one State, under the Laws thereof, escaping into another, shall, in Consequence of any Law or Regulation therein, be discharged from such Service or Labour, but shall be delivered up on Claim of the Party to whom such Service or Labour may be due." This clause required states to return runaway slaves to their owners and prohibited them from enacting laws that would protect or assist slaves who had escaped from bondage.
In addition, the Constitution granted Congress the power to regulate interstate and foreign commerce, which included the trade in slaves. The Constitution also gave Congress the power to pass laws to enforce the provisions of the Constitution, including those related to slavery. These powers enabled Congress to pass laws regulating the institution of slavery and the treatment of slaves.
If anything, it reaffirms Slavery, and it affirms Private Prisons, which are as bad or worse than Slavery....
The Commerce Clause, regulates Commerce, and yes, the Slave trade is still Commerce, and the Federal Govt always gets it's Taxes, it didn't and doesn't regulate anything, it only enforces a Tax....
It definitely reaffirms slavery. Correct, It also shows that The Commerce Clause gives Congress the power to regulate commerce among the states and with foreign countries. It is found in Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution and reads as follows: "The Congress shall have power ... To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes."
And yet, instead of Blocking Slavery as in blocking the selling of Slaves between states, they made the 13th Amendment and made Slavery into a thing that only Govt is allowed to practice....
Thanks for stating the entire point I was making. It can't be a states right issue for the southern democrats when they were gonna do the same thing as Lincoln and make slavery federal!
And yet, Slavery was actually Legalized, granted it is Institutionalized, as in Only Prisoners can be treated as Slaves, but it's all there in the infernal 13th Amendment, which the Demon Politicians have used to hide the Original 13th Titles of Nobility Amendment....

Bu thanks for the comedy, ROFLMAO!!!

Article IV Section 2, Clause 3....

Again, the southern states were trying to make slavery a federal issue in the opposite way lincoln was.
Oh, I see, only one side is allowed to dictate what is and what isn't, and the other side has to just eat shit....
Well, I guess it isn't a Republic at all....
