NPCs are created and maintained by keying off of their laziness. They don't want to fight, just accept their slavery. Doomers are about the same, it's easier to give in.

I think there is a bit more to someone being an NPC than just intellectual laziness.
They seem to be "missing" something when compared to independent thinkers... or conversely, independent thinkers have something extra that most other people don't have. I can't prove any of that though.
Also, I don't believe this is a recent phenomenon. Some sort of ratio between NPC's and independent thinkers has been shown by various studies (some conducted long ago) to be somewhere between 80/20 and 70/30.
Whatever you call them - NPC's, sheeple, etc... they are basically followers that do not think for themselves. All they can do is find someone/something to follow.
Therefore, that is why leaders that have the best interests of their followers at heart are so important for the sheeple. President Trump, as one example. Bolsonaro as another...
They lack curiosity, analytical, and perceptive ability. They accept everything at face value and don't read between the lines.
The system has conditioned many to believe they will never get ahead and the way things are is as good as it is going to get. That opens the door for UBI and "you will own nothing" which is positioned as better than what they have now. So they just go along.
There are plenty of people who DO experience "getting ahead" in life. They can have successful careers and believe they are "winning" in life.
Yet, they have zero intellectual curiosity about anything, including their own profession.
So, there is more to it than simply being conditioned to not get ahead.
Yup. Getting ahead in life only means someone put in extra effort or got lucky and got a good income but they will still blindly devote their lives to an employer that doesn't give a shit about them. Then they often will not even have enough free time to allow any curiosity to build up. They will be too busy trying to survive and/or too busy going through the motions of a never ending routine filled life. A person would have to break the routine to see something new and a lot of people won't break that routine out of fear.
Many years ago I knew a Dartmouth graduate who didn’t have a single book in his house. Made $ in commercial real estate. Many such cases.
No disagreement on those lacking basic curiosity. But you don't believe the ones who get ahead outnumber those that don't do you?
50% of people don’t have an inner monologue apparently. Maybe that’s why they can’t independent think bc they’re never thinking about anything
Interesting point. I do wonder what the non-thinkers think about.
Sports? Celebrities? Literally, thinking about nothing at all?
Hard to conceptualize how they go through life in a typical day.
I can’t imagine what that would be like.
Not thinking in words doesn't mean they aren't thinking. But it still raises the question of to what level their thought processes are different, and possibly insufficient to deduce things.
Though to be honest, there's no reason they couldn't just speak their thoughts out loud to themselves in private to think through ideas. Many of them don't do this either because the problem is much deeper than their mode of thought, I'd say.
They fear the unknown, they fear being wrong, they fear alternative thinking. They are full of fear.
Too many people in modern society have lots of fear because they've never been forced to step outside of their comfort zones and take real life risks. Over time it's easy to see how this can create irrational fears of things within people.
Further evidence of the erosion of faith.
Within each person is a (usually asymmetric) struggle for decision making between the person’s intellect and the person’s biological programming, Often, the more intelligent the person, the more likely that the intellect is the dominant decision maker. Oftentimes when there has been an outlier of an unintelligent person trying to make decisions with his intellect instead of his programming, there has been a foolish decision made that might have gotten the free-thinking fool culled from the herd. For example, Darwin Award “winners” would’ve been better off following their programming and finding safety in the conventions of the herd.
In group vs group competition, it has been a benefit to a group to have some members who think differently than the herd, because those members come up with the ideas and innovations that help the whole group out-compete the other group(s). So nature finds a balance between risky free thinkers and safe group thinkers. It usually comes out similarly to the 20/80 you mentioned.
The NPCs with modest intellects kind of have to be followers, or else they would make foolish decisions that get themselves killed or that harm the group. The cabal has exploited this natural tendency towards following by providing false leaders. Eg Judas goats
