If women are going to insist on bare arms in the legislature just for themselves then perhaps the male legislators should start going to work in "wife beater" tank tops to highlight the hypocrisy. Now just imaging the hilarity of the chamber looking like it's filled with Larry the Cable Guy clones.
They are not asking for a full burka. Just covering arms and shoulders. Why would anyone want to reveal their shoulders in legislature? Imagine if a man did it?
Going to throw out there that menβs dress attire is so much warmer than womens that thereβs literally an issue of if women dress purely on trend, they will want the room far too warm to be suitable for the men in dress wear. So not only is there an issue of modesty, there is an issue of practically when setting the temperature in the buildings.
On a related note, I hate womens clothing in the winter. Freezing, even long sleeves are about 3β too short to keep safely warm. Have to wear my husbands coats when in deep winter.
I have never seen men with bare arms in the legislature. In fact, not even short sleeves, since the bad-dress seventies, when men would wear ties and knee socks with short sleeved shirts and 'walking' shorts.
Mostmen wear long sleeves AND a blazer, if not a full suit.
This requirement, to me, makes for a better dress code. It is not a fashion show or a red-carpet evening wear reveal.
Missouristan. This is what happens when either side is extreme in the sense of only the irrational making decisions for the rest of us. But as nature has demonstrated, it is always those who are mentally unstable that seek to control the rest of us who understand boundaries and the desire to live and let live.
But I thought that Democrats don't believe in the right to bear arms?

I would like to see a rule like that in the US Congress. But for covering some of those faces.
Shoulders, yes but arms? There must be some really raunchy tattoos...
