The NCAA ruling last year already killed collegiate sports. Allowing endorsement deals was the lid to Pandora's Box. The schools that can afford to pay their athletes the most money will attract the best talent, and the smaller schools won't be able to compete any longer. Be prepared for a smaller competitive field driven by the biggest universities and corporate dollars.
There should just be a minor league football. College football is a damn joke now.
I’m not sure how I feel about this
Well I guess that’s one way to pay back sport scholarships.
You can't make this up. Next, college baseball, hockey, and basketball will folow. Then onto HS football, Little League and Babe Ruth will be asking the same.
I mean where does it stop?
There is a problem though. And it's a paradox that college sports is education based. It's simply not. The only reason college sports is a collegiate subject is profit. College football makes a lot of money for the university.
The players aren't so much interested in academics as they are making the Pros. While less than 3% ever make it in the professional field, the rest go elsewhere. This is where an education may help. Yet, its all about good grades. Always has been. Competition between hires is academically factor into the equation.
IMHO, I believe sports is somewhat antithetical to education and academics. Accordingly, the huge profits made from collegiate sports will override any consideration of this. What universities and colleges ought to do is at least realize it though (They won't), but will instead wrap this in terms of 'tradition' and 'legacy'. If college athletes feel as though they are being used by the system for profit, it's obvious in a financial sense they are. If any of these athletes make it in the pros, they are going to experience the same, but assuaged with much better compensation.
I just can't see how college players get paid for playing sports. Many of them already are paid in the sense of scholarships, which cover the costs of education. Where does this stop..... Are women going to demand equal pay when their audiences pale in comparison to college football? Expect this to happen. It's a can of worms.
Why don’t they care about equality in football players? Where are the Asian football players?!?
California obviously needs more trans players. Maybe even let some homeless people camp on the sidelines.
The midgets too.
And the Nauruans! We must let the Nauruans play too. It's just so wrong.
