What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
Rules For this Site also accessible on the sidebar.
Suggestion:
The real value of Sir General Chat is being able to connect, share a little bit of random experience, and just talk..... Yes, a quip or two, or some interesting nugget, all that is delish and yummy.
However, postings on various news items, or general posts, should not be spammed here. Such posts should go to the general board, where they can sink or swim by the upvotes. If one starts using General Chat to posts stuff that doesn't belong on the board, again and again and again, well, the General might come down will a malady.
If 3, 4, or 5 TOPIC posts are launched here in the form of comments, that clogs up and distorts the flavor of General Chat. That's not the point of General chat, is it? In my humble opinion.
One of the reasons one lurks on internet forums, etc, is to gauge the general flavor of that forum and adjust to that. I kinda feel like some would benefit from doing that, and that the General would benefit if some did that.
Wild, I know, but there it is. Don't blame me. I'm a madman.

Very cryptic fren, are you referring to someone in particular? Looking at the comments I get the feeling this is about u/uk9994 ?
I know this user is controversial and I have had very heated exchanges with them multiple times, but usually they bring information to this board which is not suitable for a post on its own but still information thats worthwhile for Anons and hard to come by elsewhere.
But today especially there seems to be multiple comments here from them that are actually topic related and more appropriate to be posted on its own, and I see your point.
I have removed two of these comments - J&J vaccine suit and the MIT professor on mRNA. They are free to repost them as separate posts.
Thanks for bringing this up.
If you can't be cryptic when issuing thought-provoking missives, then when can you be?
But I jest. It's not just our uk unibomber. There are one or two others.
Actually, it's a great thing that some of our pedes feel so at home and feel like they've found a place they can share and engage. I seriously would not want to discourage that without good cause.
However, a certain amount of tuning in to the vibe of the house, as it were, helps. I think the pruning work is good.
So, let's continue to make a clear distinction and set a clear standard regarding what suits General Chat and what doesn't. Things will always improve if the collective keeps its ear to the ground.
Haven't come across anything else concerning, honestly.
Vibes keep changing based on folks who participate and engage. I remember the time when the only discussions in GC were "question of the day".
GC is what has been outlined in the post everyday - a community hall, so to speak for the great community here, to talk about off topic things. Like a real community hall, you might sometimes see different folks come in and its natural to get worried that it will change the armosphere. As long as everyone is respectful and no one is needlessly spamming, and people stick to off topic (😂 ) stuff, its all good.
Sounds about right.
I do get a bit ahead of myself at times.... :p
Thank you. I am just trying to do the right thing myself.
A blessing on you Kings. I see your passion.
Well, Thank you! I have a BIG Passion for RIGHT and WRONG. I can not STAND when people take advantage of others and get away with it. That is why I fell in love with Trump's words. Actually, GAW, Military, and AMERICA's words really. I have always loved America and had pride in America. I guess it is because when I was in school, we were taught that. I had gotten so sick of politics that I just would not watch it, listen to it, or anything. When Trump Became President!!.... I fell in love with America all over again. I was pissed when all I heard on the News was, Trump Bad. That is when I started really getting into KNOWING or Trying to Know and Understand what is going on. Sucks when you are trying to find stuff out online and do not know what and who to believe. THANK GOODNESS I FOUND HERE!! Anyway, Thank you, Fren. :-)
The antidote or best response to this is to develop your skills of discernment, critical thinking coupled with self-examination. You need self-examination to be aware of what things trigger responses from you, and how you respond. Then why you respond this way, etc.
Discernment comes by applying critical thinking and self-awareness. It's like a muscle, and it needs to be built up.
Also, it takes inner strength and maturity to be able to maintain a sense of balance and confidence even when you recognize you do not have enough information to properly and responsibly evaluate who or what to believe.
In other words, especially for the last few generations, it can be very uncomfortable feeling you don't know who or what to trust. Being OK with that uncomfortable feeling is important, so that you are less likely to be triggered into this or that or this, even if its the right choice but for the wrong reasons.
Anyway, it takes time and effort and experience to develop discernment but it has never been more important than in the current information warfare that is, one might say, the culmination of a thousands of years old conflict.
Hear, hear. The spamming is getting out of hand and spoiling the page. I'm starting to think we have a troll in our midst.
I would refer you to the GAW Moderators Council's Office. I'm not going to - not going to comment on that piece at all from here. I'm just going to continue to be prudent and consistent and respect the process.
KJP - (Not) Probably
Dear Fren,
Thank you for your referral. We value your comment, and have forwarded it to the relevant department.

Just a general comment on internet forum communities:
<initiate unsolicited diatribe>
I've been involved in online communities for the good part of 3 decades. I've been involved as an initiator (owner), moderator/admin, participant. I've been involved in excellent forums, mediocre ones, and fortunately not too many terrible ones.
Online communities live or die by culture. If the culture is toxic, participants will come and go very quickly; if the culture is healthy and productive, the forum will live, become the basis for a healthy and productive community, and eventually go on to establish a lasting tradition.
Culture in an online forum is best formed via an interaction between mods on one hand and participants on the other, centering on the purpose of the forum.
Some of the best online communities I've been in are those where there is active community engagement and the community as a whole carries the central thrust of the forum. Mods/admins frequently set the tone, and clip the hedges as they need it, but the main role of the mods in such a case is to ensure that the purpose of the forum is maintained and not infringed. But unless participants embrace, live and contribute to the spirit of the forum, it's going to be a struggle. In other words, things go best when participants themselves adopt an attitude of responsibility towards the forum, as opposed to sitting back and just thinking, "oh, the mods are the bosses; they bear all the responsibility here."
Think government. "That's the government's job"-type thinking is a serious problem in the current day. Citizens are meant to build the nation and be responsible for the nation Certain limited functions are (should be) delegated to the government to look after, but unless the average Joe and Jane citizen actually adopt a sense of responsibility for the nation, things go down the gurgler. (Please open front door, observe world, to verify.)
Thus, I think it behooves us as participants to discuss, reflect on, and engage with issues that affect the ongoing well-being of OUR community here. We do this by expressing our views, in cooperation with each other and with the Council Office, or simply being a conscientious participant (as you have indicated).
Case in point: below, uk9994 wrote "this is bubbles page, and it's up to him". I think this view is fundamentally problematic. This is NOT BB's thread. He curates it, and manages it for us, but if this is not OUR threat/chat, etc, then who are we? Slaves? Servants? Children? Responsible participants (in terms of attitude), or simply consumers who benefit from the efforts of others while we sit back and enjoy?
GAW may be administered and moderated by mods, but it belongs to US, all frens who engage here. As long as we uphold and promote the forum purpose, we are qualified to stand as full participants and collective owners of what we do here. That's the spirit that created the USA, and that's the one the whole world is starting to realize we need to adopt everywhere.
In my opinion.
But what do I know? I'm a goofball.
<end unsolicited diatribe>
Very well stated fren. And thanks for your contributions. o7
I defer to bubbles on this matter.. I wrote him months ago saying if I post something you don't like just take it off..not going to be upset about it. As I said it's bubbles page and it's up to him.. he does remove one at times.
So..... you just post whatever you like, and bubbles_burst has to do all the work of making sure that your contributions are appropriate or valuable or whatever?
Seems kinda self-focused to me.
No...it's not like that.
Believe me as soon as enough people are aware of what the true picture is I will gladly stop posting.
It's been a weight on my soul.
