It sounds nice up until they ban private ownership ("you will own nothing and be happy"). Then you have to walk 15 minutes from your government housing pod to get your bug ration (can't own food or have a kitchen to prepare it) or do your laundry (can't own your own machines). Car ownership? Heck, vehicular traffic isn't even permitted anymore.
You are conflating two things. There are a lot of conservatives talking about bringing back traditional town planning too. Nobody’s taking your fucking Walmart grocery getter but if people don’t want to live in a sprawl shithole then maybe they should have a chance to live in a real neighborhood
What part of "You will own nothing" did you miss? They have straight up told us repeatedly they are taking our vehicles along with everything else we own.
Ok but that doesn’t mean that somehow sprawl is a great way to build a civilization. It’s bankrupting our country. So just wait long enough and it will all go mad max style anyway so who gives af
Whether 15 min cities is a great idea or not, it is being pushed through without public consultation, this is a fact and that's the problem.
You may think that to hell with it, let's have nicer areas of living but it's a slippery slope. That's how communists and facists slipped though programs and got to kill over 150 million in genocides throughout history.
You may be thinking, that's not going to happen. But, were you asleep to what happened over the last three years??
Who ever asked for or voted for sprawl in the first place? It was pushed on us from the federal level by a series of back door deals and regulatory measures. So don’t imagine that it’s the result of the free market because it’s not it’s totally artificial
