I don't watch TV so I wasn't keeping track of things like that. Are they only finding out now that she has brain damage?

Apparently, according to the article. The daughter released the information herself. Maybe she saw what happened in both cases, figured there was correlation and decided it was time to let the public know. The information from the team was more vague.

Having worked with stroke patients in the past. The brain damage occurred when she had her stroke. I suspect the daughter is just letting people know now.
