Mary is an idol to Catholics. Portraying Jesus as a baby in many of their images is to push Jesus reliance on Mary. Catholics pray to Mary as an intermediary to God. Similarly they will pray to angels and saints as an intermediary. The problem is that the only time the bible talks about praying / speaking to saints and the like is in a negative context, those people are called mediums, talking to the dead. They usually ask saints, angels, mary or whoever to pray for them because they supposedly have more direct access to God since theyre perfected in love. But the truth is anyone who believes in jesus true gospel and has been sealed with the holy spirit has "direct access" to God as much as mary, saints, or angels.
Sounds like breaking 1st and 2nd commandment to me.
“3. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;” (Exo 20:3-5, KJV)
This. You can look this stuff up for yourself.
Eh, you know. Catholicism vs Christianity and all that.
Pretty much why organized religion is almost always a scam. There's always something that is done that isn't in line with the teachings.
Christianity is not a religion. It is a relationship.
This again. Maybe deep dive into scripture like you do rabbit holes.
Oh, give me a break.
So which is it? Do we pray to them or do we ask them to help us? You seemed to have mentioned both and don't really know where your going with this.
"And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints." Revelation 5:8
This verse is mainly why we ask for intercession. You don't have to believe us, but you also don't have to act like an idiot when it comes to trying to explain us.
There you go again - dividing Christians. YOU are doing the work of the devil by dividing us. What's with the Catholic hate? You persist in this - and drive away a large number of patriots.
He states the truth…. Look how most of what we discuss involves “centralization” being bad in any form. The catholic church is centralized whereas Christian denominations are not. Point to the chapter/verse where Mary ascended…..I’ll wait.
I shall pray for y'all who willingly attack fellow Christians. Wait some more,....
Christian denominations make up shit as they go, your right its totally an unorganized mess that has no sense of community or direction. It is usually just about feeling and emotion. Jesus is all about structure, but that is just one minor aspect as to why you are totally wrong about Catholics.
No, Mary is singularly privileged, chosen by God to be the mother of His son, Jesus. Obviously, she is not God, and no Catholic believes that. As for "praying to angels and saints" -- non-Catholics often confuse "praying" with worship -- the former is simply a word which means "asking" -- see Shakespeare, or phrases like "I pray thee", which have nothing to do with worship.
Catholics do revere Mary and the Angels and other saints as heroes of God, who are capable of interceding precisely as we do, when offering to pray for one another here on earth -- except that they are in an even better position than we are to do so, given they are in heaven, and see God face to face.
Romans 8:34
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Don't need the "saints" and Mary to intercede for us. Is Yahshua not enough?
