Ohio Train Disaster Genocide
🤢 These people are sick! 🤮

· East Palestine, Ohio Train Disaster in Numbers
- 50 rail cars derailed on 3 February
- 11 rail cars carried hazardous materials
- 5 rail cars released Vinyl Chloride, a flammable, colorless liquified gas that causes liver, brain, and lung cancer
- 28° Celcius / 82° Fahrenheit is required for Vinyl Chloride to become slightly water soluable
- 1 waterway was directly impacted - the Leslie Run. It feeds the Little Beaver Creek, a tributary to the Ohio River.
- 5 Million Americans get water from the Ohio River.
- 74 Million Americans get water from the various tributaries and outlets of the Ohio River, which feeds the Mississippi River
- 1 Billion+ animals of varying types - livestock and wildlife - depend on these waterways for life
- None of the waterways have ever hit a sustained 82°F in human history
- 3500 fish and aquatic animals have died in the Leslie Run in the past week
- Almost all small livestock have died in East Palestine since Friday, 10 February, especially poultry
- 4800 residents call East Palestine home
- 94% are White
- 81% of the 74 Million Americans that depend on the Ohio River and associated waterways, including the Mississippi for water for themselves and/or their livestock are White
- Zero FEMA officials have arrived to East Palestine as of 15 February
This was not an accident. This is genocide.
This was NOT an accident. It was a deliberate decision, and people were not warned prior to the”controlled burn.” Tell me that the S. Carolina, Houston, Texas, and Detroit, Michigan train derailments and the Tuscon, AZ truck incidents all in one week, were all accidents too.
Agreed!
You don't have a shred of evidence to substantiate "a deliberate decision" for the specific events. The Ohio and Michigan derailments were from the same railroad, Norfolk Southern. If they are scrimping by deferring track maintenance, this is the result: derailments begin to happen. You could say that was a deliberate decision, but only one of negligence, not of specific desire to cause harm. The Arizona truck incident is completely separate and unconnected. I'm not familiar with the S. Carolina and Texas accidents.
The problem here is that you WANT it to be "not an accident." Maybe you even NEED it to be "not an accident." As though an accident is not bad enough.
No, I want it to have not happened at all, whether deliberate or accidental. Most likely we will never know, because big business are all liars and you can believe their word as far as you can throw a stick. That aside, where is the EPA and where is Biden providing financial aide and containment to prevent further spread? I do not take any glee at the misery of others, whether deliberate or accidental. There are way to many derailments. Extra care should be taken when transporting hazardous materials.tracks should be checked regularly for proper status and maintenance.
Welcome to the show at last. 1700 derailments/year on average, for the past 20 years. Partly the media has not been paying attention, and mainly the public is purely ignorant of how much industrial traffic is on the rails. Big business is not "all liars." You fancy you know something you cannot possibly know, but only suspect.
As for the EPA and Biden, are you serious? Do you recall the Gold King mine contamination spill that the EPA was responsible for? Do you not know that Biden has a grudge against flyover country and red states?
As for tracks, what have the people of Ohio been up to? Sleeping in front of the TV set? They have the power to direct the state government to either inspect the railways themselves, or put pressure on the federal government to do so. We can be outraged, but when it reveals that the responsible people (us) have been asleep or indifferent, it is not a comfort.
There are hundreds of train derailments per year in the US.
This is how news works. They don't report unless they think people want to know. Before this, derailments weren't worth their attention. Now it's like a fad to talk about derailments.
In another thread someone whose husband is high up in a train company told her that the bulk of derailments are a single wheel dropping off the track caused by the rail couplers. This is a literal train wreck.
"They don't report unless they think people want to know."
They don't report unless they are told to report.
FIFY 🙂
Yep, hundreds, right next to major water supplies, not just a wheel getting off the track, but fire, explosions, all with hazardous chemicals. Even the trucks had hazardous chemicals, all in one week. Okay.
No. About 1700/year. Do some anon research, please. And it is usually the case that fires and explosions result from hazardous chemicals. That is why they are hazardous.
No. Vast majority of derails are one wheel truck coming off, not a whole car. And not with spills. Source: railfans who listen to the radio and follow trains for fun, folks who worked on the railroads. And this "controlled burn" was way out of line with all procedure, process and law. Stop trying to give anyone involved here any sort of pass, there are no excuses and no way to minimize the damage caused here.
You underestimate the figure. According to the DoT, more than a dozen trains have derailed this year already, and the 30-year average from 1990 has been ~1700 derailments/year. But you are correct to note that the media ignores it if they have other fish to fry.
