I have been contemplating taking out extra cash from my line of credit... and pay interest for a couple of months... and if everything implodes, either just dump the money back in if the system is still there and the debt is tracked, or have the extra cash without having to pay it back because the system is no more and the debt may be wiped away, too.
The chances of the latter? Very slim, if not folly. But... why not try, for the cost of a little bit of interest for two months? I'd be curious to know your opinion of this idea.
If you're going to go the line of credit path, I would buy silver with your credit rather than a cash advance. If SHTF, credit and cash will mean nothing. The silver is a stable asset that's proven the test of time and you can barter for goods/services/food. Keep some cash on hand in addition because there will be people who still have faith in the dead currency and won't understand silver.
It's a lot of speculation on my part but I have done a lot of research and taken advice from many people. The general opinion is, cash is a fairy tale based on debt, physical metals have been used for thousands of years, and limit your exposure to assets that can be deleted with a keystroke.
Good move , I sold a house and instead of paying cash for the new one, I financed the new one and purchased PMs and weapons and I did put some money in the new house bc I had to .. it's a older place. And still stacking drygoods.
Also remember to diversify with other long-lasting staples. There are a lot of items that you can stock up on and a lot of prepper sites have comprehensive lists of them.
Mind if I ask you where you purchased your PM? We’re selling a house too. Closing is next Tuesday. Instead of purchasing another house with a mortgage, I want to buy silver/gold and rent. I’ve been stocking dry goods for three years and think I’m ok there. Have a freezer full of beef and chicken.
What part of the country are you in? No taxes in Ohio. Do not buy offline, I used a dealer who had my best interest in mind,,, for a small premium👈🏻. He guarantee that it is what it is supposed to be , he went into great detail about silver for me , (I knew squat) explained spot price and the difference between buying minted and none minted rounds.. and he has the state of the art test equipment. With this said at least I have a guy to deal with instead of some online company . Silver out preforms gold 5 to1.
Local coin shops are great, pawn shops too. Online stores I've never dealt with but JM Bullion seems to come up often as a good choice. I'm lucky to have a silver/gold shop about half an hour away.

We have a few pawn shops around here but the only thing I’ve purchased from them was a handgun and got ammo pretty cheap a couple of years ago. I was going with JM Bullion, again recommended to me here.
SD Bullion has better prices, usually. I used JM Bullion for a few years, but they got bought by another company and their prices increased. Both are reputible outfits, but SD Bullion beats JM Bullion the vast majority of the time now.
Government stamped currency is the safest bet. I usually will get "silver rounds" which are 1 troy oz US mint coinage that has a guaranteed purity of .999%
It's more about prepping now, secure drygoods and weapons, everything else is secondary. Aquire silver and alittle gold if you can. It's not about making a profit anymore it's about our survival.
Get out of debt. Vehicles, mortage, cards.
Fix or acquire what is needed. Appliances (freezer, generator, water filtration, back up heating, etc.)
Have cash on hand - ATMS and banks will be useless, but I expect it will be a while before barter kicks in - normies will not be up to speed - you will. Cash will get you through.
Stack precious metals
Skill up - make sure this is good to go (welding supplies, woodworking supplies, sewing, quilting, knitting supplies, whatever you will be doing)
Have books and papers - expect EMP
Prep - should be done already - keep up
Keep vehicles topped off - don't go below 1/2 tank - stay up on maintenance - need new tires? Convert that fiat now.
Remember Nord stream. The U.S. are NOT the good guys. Wipe the benevolent U.S. dream from your eyes. They (we) will fight tooth and nail to keep the dollar alive. Pray. Expect scorched earth.
