I listened to the video from Dr. Berg...I like him very much, but I had not seen this video. I take 10,000 IUs of Vitamin D3 daily. I also take a supplement called Super K by Life Extension that contains the mK7 100mcg.as Dr. Berg recommended. It also has mK4 and K1. I take one of these each day along with the 10,000 IU's of D. I would recommend if there is any question of how much vitamin D you have in your system, you get it checked with some blood work. The ideal number is greater than 50, but 60 or 70 is even better. When I first tested, I was about 27 and now I am about 60 and the improvement in my health is absolutely amazing. Vitamin D is involved in hundreds of processes in the body and acts more like a hormone. Also, some people do not absorb D adequately from the sun...my husband is outdoors all the time and had the same numbers as I did. But he is on the same supplementation and we both have improved immensely. Anyway, K does deposit the calcium from anywhere in the body (arteries) to where it needs to be...in the bones. It is a great supplement...and D and K must be taken together.
First of all...never apologize for presenting conflicting views on any subject...the truth can always withstand scrutiny and that is how we learn. My questions for you
What is the source of your information?
Who wants to poison animals to kill them?
How much Vitamin D was used?
Okay...I first became aware of Vitamin D many, many years ago when my doctor tested me and my kids and we were all in the 20's ng/ml, which is VERY low. He reads a lot of Life Extension information and fortunately had learned about how important Vitamin D is. So, I read 2 books on Vitamin D to get a better understanding of it, so I could accurately and safely know how much to take, etc.
The first book was written by Jeff T. Bowles entitled "The Miraculous Results of Extremely High Doses of the Sunshine Hormone Vitamin D3". This crazy person experimented with huge doses of D3 from 25,000 to 50,000 to 100,000 IU a day over a one year period and chronicled his journey. He was the one that made me realize Vitamin K MUST be taken with Vitamin D and I started the supplement he used, Super K from Life Extension, which I still use today. It was a VERY interesting book and he had some very good outcomes...but I needed something more scientific.
So I read the book "Power of Vitamin D" by Sarfraz Zaidi MD., which has the most scientific, useful and practical information about Vitamin D - Hormone D. This gave me enough scientific information to start experimenting with dosages. One thing I should mention is that I am allergic to the sun (it is a real condition...believe it or not). I was not always allergic to the sun, but when I got older I became allergic...basically if I am in the sun too long I break out in an itchy rash. I just always limited my time in the sun, umbrellas at the beach, clothing to cover, sunscreen...it was a doable situation, but very irritating.
So...I started on 10,000 IU's a day with one Super K. I had my blood tested twice a year and before long I was up over 50ng/ml. I lost some weight, my arthritis improved, I had more energy...it seemed like a win-win. I was pleased. All my children also improved their numbers and their health problems also improved.
Eventually covid hit...my husband had never taken any supplements, but he was having some health issues and I finally got him to take some supplements. He was a pretty avid outdoorsman. However, on testing, his Vitamin D level was in the 20's ng/ml. I have since learned that some people cannot process Vitamin D from the sun and apparently, he was one of those. He also started 10,000 IUs plus a Super K daily and he is now in the upper 50's with improved health. Vitamin D was part of the suggested protocol for covid by FLCCC...they suggest that you keep your number over 50ng/ml to improve outcomes of covid. The key takeaway here is that you know exactly how much Vitamin D is in your system...and you only know that by a blood test that specifically tests for Vitamin D.
I might add that I am 72 and am on no medications. I have recently had my carotid arteries scanned because my dad had Alzheimer's in his 70's and I wanted to check on any blood flow problems and it is all good and I also did a stress test, and it is all good...so I do not believe I have any adverse effects personally from Vitamin D. Also, if I slowly acclimate myself to the sun in the spring, I am able to stay in the sun without breaking out in a rash...now that is worth its' weight in gold...I attribute that to Vitamin D.
So...long story short...you have two opposing views...could there be people that spread misinformation, yes...they did it with ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine...
You need to evaluate the information and make an informed decision about what you personally are going to do for you and your family. The key is to test your blood and also take Vitamin K with Vitamin D... the Vitamin K takes the circulating D in the blood and puts it in the bones...so perhaps lack of Vitamin K contributes to Vitamin D toxicity...I don't know...but I am not afraid of taking too much vitamin D...I would be more afraid of not taking enough Vitamin D...which is fairly cheap and has SO MANY benefits. Also, online Dr. Berg has some very interesting videos on Vitamin D ...I think he is one of the smartest men in the world. So, this is the information I want to share, and I hope you make the right decision for you about this important vitamin/hormone...
I saw or read that if one has enough vitamin D in your system it almost impossible to get sick. I take 20,000 IU per day with magnesium and full spectrum K2 once per week. I used to get allergies twice a year along with strep and the flu. I’m 75 and in great health. No I haven’t had my blood tested for vitamin D but the last test for regular blood work was all “green”. Vitamin D is cheap medicine for staying healthy and is key.
Thanks for your positive affirmation of the wonderful healing power of VitamnD/K and congratulations on your good health...
I would wholeheartedly agree with that statement...Vitamin D is God's particular gift to mankind through sunshine...but for whatever reason it is all screwed up...I am 72 and never get sick for any length of time (less than a day if and when) and many chronic things I had have resolved since my D is up to snuff...am off all medications...it really is great to feel better in your 70's than you did in your 50's-60's...mind you...I won't be running a marathon anytime soon...but I never did like running anyway...
Dr. Berg discusses higher doses of D in some of his interesting online videos...I would not hesitate to increase my 10,000IU daily dose if needed.
I can attribute this improved health to other things (I use many different healing protocols) I am taking but I feel D/K is foundational...and I still am a fan of testing...at least until you know how much to take to maintain good health...
