Many of those people just punch codes into a computer and the computer tells them what to do. It's the height of ignorance. They can also be in a hurry and punch in a code wrong and give a patient the wrong medicine. They are glorified assembly line workers. When technology pretends to eliminate the guess work (aka "thinking") then you end up with these lemmings who don't think or double check things and blame everything on systems and protocols which are "supposed to be working correctly". No, actually, patients expect HUMANS to work correctly and look after them. Computers are just there to assist with the some of the mundane tasks and record keeping.
They EHR system gives them clinical decisions for problems, and they just do what the system tells them. Before a computerized hospital, doctors and nurses actually practiced medicine, but not anymore. Back in the day 80s and before clinicians used math and science to do their job to make clinical decisions but not anymore. They're fucking robots doing whatever they're told. Just ask old school nurses and docs.
Agree. Glorified (and grossly overpaid) assembly workers.
I would rather have an AI doctor than some of these people. They don't have critical thinking skills.
My girlfriend works at a different hospital in Oak Park IL as a PT for 20 years. They made her take a PCR test every week, go in a different entrance, bc she refused the shots. The administration and coworkers threatened and cooerced her for 2 yrs. The whole thing has taken a massive toll on her. She loves her profession and is great at it now wants out of HC.
