Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Thank you for sharing this with us.
I lost my father when I was very young. Missing out on the connections, the moments, the discussions, the arguments, the guidance, the fellowship...is painful enough.
If it were a result of my own choices I don't know that I could bear it.
Hey Tread. I'd like to recommend a book that I have found to be really powerful in changing some of my internal world in the last 2 years.

I'm not suggesting you have problems as described in the blurb (I don't know), but I found this book to be an amazing instrument of healing. It really opened up some things for me, in relation to my whole family and lineage.
Worth the investment.
Thanks Frac. Looks like a fascinating and potentially helpful read. I have my struggles. At least as many as the next guy...
From the blurb it sounds like epigenetic memory (or something similar) is a focus of the book. That's a concept I find very intriguing.
Yep, it's got to do with epigenetics. Really helped me to put together some of my own internal experiences but in the context of my family and lineage.
I'm fond of saying, there are two Great Awakenings, the internal one and the external one. While the world (including us) is waking up to the reality of things externally, anons and everyone else in the Great Awakening have to also realize that the internal awakening is pivotal and key.
And some people are ahead of the curve (of awakening) while some are behind, just like in everything else.
I share your philosophy about it not being a binary on/off thing.
