The ideal best that could be said of Modern Education. It allows you to talk about a subject and not sound like a completely uneducated moron.
But the reality of modern education rarely meets the ideal. Especially now when you need to wade through the agendas to get to any potentially useful information out of the field or class.
Very much like the protesters on the streets. The interviewers will go up to them and ask them what they are protesting about and they'll spout,
"Because he/they are racist/misogynistic/anti-this or that" but when you ask for an example of said thing, they cannot come up with one and want to stop talking with you and run away.
I've said this before and will say it again...Thomas Sowell and Clarence Thomas are two of the smartest men ever to have lived. Everything these guys say is spot on and thought-provoking.
My high-school chem teacher had a plaque that still sticks with me 30 yrs later.
Hey teenagers move out of your parents house now while you still know everything
Reminds me of a poem I once memorized for school, "To be Educated". I won't post the whole thing because it's a bit long, but here's the first/last few lines:
If I can learn my ABC’s, can read 600 words per minute, and I can write with perfect penmanship, but have not been shown how to communicate with the Designer of all language, I have not been educated.
If I can deliver an eloquent speech and persuade you with my stunning logic, but have not been instructed in God’s wisdom, I have not been educated.
If I have read Shakespeare and John Locke and can discuss their writings with keen insight, but have not read the greatest of all books-The Bible- and have of its personal importance, I have not been educated.
...
However, if one day I see the world as God sees it and come to know Him, whom to know is life eternal, and glorify God by fulfilling His purpose for me,
Then I have been educated.
Greta Thunberg the actress comes to mind. She cannot answer any question that has not been scripted.
Doctorate in Theology. They have announced to the world that Global Warming is a religion and not a science.
She certainly holds a pHd in Extremeatology. She is a true master of the overdramatic.
