I figured it was Trump and/or the white hats behind the leak because the media wasn't initially pushing the hysterics, it was coming from right-wing Twitter. If the leak came from the DA's office, talking points would have gone out to all the media ahead of time and they would have had a unified narrative like usual. Instead they seemed caught off guard.

My friends theory is that Trump called in a favor in NYC to push for his own arrest, to drum up sympathy.
