The Dept of Education was established in 1980. I'm 70 years old and a "product" of the public education system. I graduated from High School in 1970. So I went thru 12 years of public education without there being a Dept. of Education. I received a very good education which allowed me to obtain a full scholarship to a great college! Now fast forward to today - I wouldn't want my grandchildren to attend the public schools that I attended. It would be child abuse. What changed? Well there's now a Federal Dept. of Education for one reason....
Back then, we actually had an entire semester on the Constitution. We learned back then. Today they teach them to be prospects for a mental institution.
Yup I graduated in 1982. Government was required and the first semester was all Constitution. The third quarter was all civics and the fourth we applied what we learned in a mock government format using real world historical references. I was Chief Justice.
NO! Absolutely not! What I was saying was that public schools back in my day (50's & 60's) were, for the most part, very good. But today they are beyond horrible. BTW we home schooled for a total of 23 years.
The vote result may be as a result of 'contract law'. I don't agree with it, but with almost everything else, there's more to the story.
Seldom do parents read the fine print when enlisting their children in public schools. The contract parents sign surrenders their rights as custodial parents when those children are in public schools. The public school becomes the de facto guardian of these children. Teachers know this. This is why teachers have little respect for parents. Perhaps, there would be better success in attacking the contract with its terms and conditions. Otherwise, home school you children or find a private school that isn't taking government grants or subsidies.
Just abolish the whole damn thing.
I guess it's like diabetes, first you lose a toe or two, then some more, then part of the foot, then...............
