Praying “to” is still praying for their assistance, right? I don’t want to get into the whole Catholic thing with you, as with the Virgin Mary. These things are not God. They are OF God. Therefore when you pray for help or healing or anything to do with miracles….Jesus, God the Father is who you pray to. You can pray FOR things differently, I suppose. You can pray WITH people differently. But the end is the same. When you pray “to”, there is only one. As I said I don’t want to hurt your feelings or anything but you sound Catholic. And, I hate to say it to you, but they’ve got a few things wrong with “their” teachings. They’ve literally placed a man (pope) in between the person and Jesus. I e for a few Catholic family members. After talking with me on just basics of relationships, salvation with Jesus. They start to question their whole upbringing. I’m not a smart or wise person. But I know how the order goes. It’s you, and Jesus. There is no other way. That is who you pray to. That is who you thank. That is who you owe everything to and He is the only way.
Why so dogmatic about our dogma?
And who fights your battles? Vengeance is whose? Answer that.
Fren, you’re all over this thread praying to fellow servants of God seeking them to do things (in your case, interpreting the Bible according to a certain set of beliefs). The Q drop has a petition to a servant of God to do something he’s known to do. If you are uncomfortable with saying that directly to the Archangel, you can simply ask Jesus Christ to send the angels to protect us and we will be asking for the same thing, united in prayer and in service to God and country.
I posted that link to help them, I understand already who to ask for aid from. And during this week especially, it just kinda sucks to see Michael get praise, instead of the one who is King. Jesus fights the final battle. God fights ALL battles. He has His power, weapons, etc. I then show scripture that backs up what I’m saying.
It’s basically praising the tank in battle, instead of the one who operates it. Same thing. The rifle instead of the solider. The shoes instead of the runner. What’s next? Just trying to not insult Jesus by praising His servants before Him. I try to help others, they just don’t see that. Even with scripture backing it up.
We ask for their prayers, we don't pray to them as if they can answer our prayers. Only God can.
I'm Orthodox Christian, not Roman Catholic. We do not worship the Theotokos.
Correct, if I asked an Unmercenary Saint to heal my sickness, I'm not asking the Saint themself to heal me, I'm asking them to offer prayers to God on my behalf. We ask for the prayers of Saints and Angels because they're powerful, James 5:16.
I agree fully, Orthodoxy is the way! ☦️
OP here, also an Orthodox Christian anon ☦️
Nice, God bless you brother.
Well you kinda changed subjects a bit there. If you asking to receive an angles prayers, as in they hope and pray for you. I have no doubt that angles care for us, but because we are God’s creations. Because God loves us so dearly, they love us as well I’m sure. If God told the archangel Michael to strike us down, you can best bet he would in an instant, with zero thoughts on the matter. Because God commanded it. I think we are on the same page friend. I may be a bit touchy today because of habbenings and this Holy Week. I don’t know. I just want people to embrace what me and you have, to truly change their lives and not be mislead anymore. So apologies if I’ve come off a bit harsh. My bad friend.
Well, that's exactly the issue in contention. Nobody thinks Angels can answer our prayers or that they can substitute prayers to God.
It seems you're misunderstanding some things.
I mean it’s possible. Like Peter I get a bit feisty when it comes to Jesus. I just take, when someone says, praying to angels as a huge missed opportunity for them to be praying to God. Jesus deserves every prayer, every praise. All of it. There should be none left for anyone else. Of course I know that’s a bit harsh, people deserve praise of course. But you know what I’m saying. I may have sliced off an ear today. 😁
The Lord knows I mean well. And I’m glad to be apart of a forum full of Christians. Thank you for that.
