Speaking as a Brit, it's more because there's very, very, very few things to be proud of nowadays for anyone patriotic. Latching onto anything that seems slightly good even if there's evidence to the opposite.
It's about all that remains of our culture, I don't know a single person that can name what British Culture is outside of Parliament and the Royal Family.
As a long-time Jag owner, I can certify they are not Fords. Though the brand was owned at one time by Ford (along with Land Rover and Volvo), Ford did not pre-empt their Jaguar's design and production. Ford did, however, relieve the brand from the curse of Lucas electrical equipment, which was a huge improvement. When Alan Mulally became CEO of Ford, he had these brands sold off so Ford could concentrate on its own problems and markets. Jaguar and Land Rover are now owned by Tata of India. The CEO of Tata was a Jaguar enthusiast, so he is not interfering. The path since then has been upward.
Literature, Universal language, Shakespeare, British people are fond of animals and have a love of nature, they excelled in dog breeding and brought to the world wonderful Breeds, hunting and working dogs, agricultural leaps in animal husbandry, exploration and botanists. I do not think of England, I think of the whole of the British Isles, (including us annoying and rebellious Celts from Scotland and Ireland).Theatre, Roasted meats, Brewers, only the Irish excel at music and dancing in the bunch though. Do I qualify as a single person?

I know what you mean and I used to think that very strongly when I was more left wing.
Now I see the British people as basically good resilient and very tolerant people and that is what I am proud of.
Right now many of them are asleep, but that will change in the end.
Our institutions are cabal and utterly corrupt. Police, NHS, gov, judicial etc. but the people are still worth having.
When you compare the Brits to some of the recent replacement population, you see the difference.
British culture = fish and chips, Manchester united hooliganism, Astons, Jags, and dental issues
Fish and chips was brought here by the Jewish community I believe. Fried fish anyway.
The rest is true, although Jags are really just expensive Fords.

I stand corrected. I'll take that from a long-time Jag owner.
Forgot James Bond and Monty Python…how dare you.
I miss those days when there were great Fish & Chips restaurants everywhere. Kinda rare today. (here in US).
