There aren't any secure communication apps that I know of. People don't seems to realize that they can hack ANYTHING. You could write a custom app for yourself and a small group of people and create your own hashing algorithm, but they will figure out the hash eventually. I think the black hats used the best method. Create a shared email account and create drafts of your message and never actually send it.
Whatever you use for personal communication just keep in mind that all the messages would never be private and someone will be watching it all. That said, pick the platform thats least intrusive. Personally I prefer discord as it also has desktop version.
The SMS feature of Signal was never secure, just normal SMS through the Signal app as a convenience feature. Only Signal-to-Signal messages are encrypted. So keep Signal for Signal contacts and setup a standard texting app for SMS.

Check out Session. It is looking better.

Best way is granny old phone that have no internet or data. And buy w cash. Just phone call and text.
Depends on what you are using it for? Personal communication? Keeping up with pa(y)triot community? Wanting to build a userbase for yourself?
Personal communication, also like that signal has a desktop version.

Learn to use onion routing, specially lokinet. And teach it to those you want to communicate with.
And of course, most of the times, simply getting together and sharing what you need to is way better without phones listening in on your convo.
Wire?
you think sms is a way of avoiding data mining?
