I think the impasse will persist well past the June dead line. There will be no default on the debt. That is fake. The government takes in taxes each month sufficient to pay most of the bills. The most notable thing that happens is that the civil servants don't get paid. But in the past when this happened, they were all made whole later. They essentially got a paid vacation.
I would like them to go past the dead line because the military courts take over for the civilian courts. I don't think this happened before. Likely because the debt ceiling was raised in a relatively short time after crossing the limit. But it may happen this time. Stay tuned.
The bill passed in a narrow 217-215 vote. Every Democrat voted against it, as expected, along with four Republicans – Andy Biggs of Arizona, Tim Burchett of Tennessee, Ken Buck of Colorado and Matt Gaetz of Florida.
Interesting, because June is also the deadline for all current debts to be switched over from LIBOR to SOFR.

Hannity? Who’s that?
Exactly.

Matt Gaetz ??
They probably are hardliners on not raising the debt ceiling.
