I am torn on this matter. Lake granted the opportunity to expose it in court is both encouraging and inspiring, but AZ is swamp country regarding the highest seats and the courts. The weight of chalking it all up to “military being the only way” (and it seems more and more necessary) is a burden too heavy lately.
I was in the car with my mother yesterday, talking about politics, and it turned into a solid 15 minute debate. After educating her on 1930s-40s Socialism, fascism, communism, the U.S. government, January 6/FBI/DOJ (while citing sources to bolster my argument), and ELECTION FRAUD.. and the only thing she had to stand on when it was all said and done was her Far Left MSM parroted phrases about Trump and the election.
What I observed was:
No interest in a meaningful pursuit of truth. No interest in understanding/distinguishing worldviews, their affects on politics and Governing/leading nations, and how the worldviews compare or differ.
Similar to what Sunnywindows said - position yourself to be there for her when she "lands" - both relationally and mentally.
You're up against a roadblock that you can't get through yourself. You've done what you can - and being there with a few in my family - I commend you for that.
I also understand how difficult (and ongoign) of a struggle it is to "pull back" on your desire to help someone you love see the truth.
Think of it this way - if you're pressing them into a corner - which by your conversations, it sounds like is the case - they are going to need some time and space to sort things out themselves and figure it out for themselves - because the corner press isn't working.
She'll come around.
The fact that she's "far left" and that you are here - and that you're able to have a conversation with her and after it you're not both hating each other - says a lot.
I know a lot of my long time friends who are very left, who would write me off if I shared everything you did the way you did.
Position yourself to be there to help her land.
If all of this is going to come out at some point - there are more precipices ahead of us still - which means, even though she's deep in her worldview and methods of coping right now, a precipice with her name on it may still be ahead (as I suspect with a lot of people) - the biggest precipices are still ahead.
Be ready to help her. You're doing good work!
Thank you for the encouragement 🐸
Sad for you in your relationship with your mom. I recommend shifting your approach entirely. Do nothing but listen to her, don’t try to change her mind or reason with her. Over time, she may come around, but it will take some major narrative shifts in the MSM and probably her friends to shift her vision. If you care about her, let her be for now. It’s hardest to convince people in your family, as they still see you as a child, no matter how old you get.
Fren,
In 2020 and early 2021, I visited my mother regularly and spoke to her about a lot of the things that have been happening, attempting to wake her up, as it were, to the reality about what is/was going on, including the fact that the Media world was not sharing real and relevant information about the so-called pandemic and the measures that were very forcibly put in place (where I live, the most locked-down place in the world, literally), etc. Week after week, sharing and sharing, and then the injections came out, and I talked to her a lot about them.
It all came to a head when after weeks of talking about the injections, and her saying she would at least ask certain questions of her doctor before making a decision, she phoned me one afternoon and sai, oh, I got the [injection] today, and I wanted to let you know, because I know you are against it. Click. Goodbye.
It triggered an existential crisis in me, because for all these years, I had told myself that my mother was actually listening to me, whereas in fact, she was not, and she has a powerful disposition since childhood to block out difficult or unpalatable information or thoughts.
The situation brought up some very powerful feelings for me, and I didn't speak to her for almost a year, after having seen her at least once every two weeks and normally one week, for years and years.
Nowadays, I don't blame her for that, and I've come to accept her as she is, but it was difficult to process the feelings, which included feeling like she was actually being immoral by not facing or accepting certain realities, and thereby actually adding to them or upholding them.
But this entire process was actually about me, and me coming to understand both myself, and her, and learning to accept her and love her without certain roadblocks in my heart.
I share this, because your recounting of "No interest in a meaningful pursuit of truth. No interest in understanding/distinguishing worldviews, ..." on the part of your mother recalls my own experience so closely.
We are called in this era to be a source of truth but also a source of love. Many of our elders, and indeed our peers and even the younger generation, are not capable of rising to the levels of commitment we have to truth and the future. And, its painful when those close to us who we care for make choices that we know ultimately are a hindrance to the world waking up.
But we are called to be both beacons of truth AND sources of love, and in my experience, that involves us learning to widen and expand not only our minds, but also our hearts, to embrace those that cannot, or will not, make the choices we have.
Living in this way and making such a choice means we are ultimately opening up the path for humanity today and humanity in the future. Moreover, we are creating the foundations so that those in the past, when the time is right, will also be able to participate on the future that awaits humanity, with God.
This is the path of sainthood, and the challenges we experience internally, confronted with a world or a society or family that cannot make the best choices, when we meet those challenges and rise above ourselves, this is the same journey that he who walked the earth 2000 years ago went on, even if our own path in tiny in comparison.
When we do this we walk in the best of company, and God will bless the world for our sake, because we mirror he who has loved all mankind.
My thoughts, anyway...
I would give your comment infinite updoots. Thank you for sharing and for the extra encouragement. I am edified by your message. God bless you 🐸
I also understand what you’re saying about the entire process/years of life spent laboring to awaken them only to resolve that the ultimate end is the Lord working in and on us. To rise above and demonstrate sacrificial love for family in the midst of ongoing turmoil is a high calling in and of itself.
Well said.
