Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat

-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.

Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Husband took me to a Chinese Restaurant Buffet last night. We go there on occasion as they have very good food. We were seated across from 4 Military aged Mexican/Spanish men. One had on a Vietnam War Cap. My husband was so mad he wanted to jerk it off his head as he knew this young man wasn't old enough to have served in Vietnam. They all talked Spanish and kept looking my way. Then I noticed I had on my "Jesus is my Savior, Trump is my President" shirt. I looked at my husband and said, " I wish you had your gun strapped on, as I suddenly feel unsafe." After some time, these men finally left which was a great relief to me. I don't know if they could speak any English, but I'm sure the word TRUMP stood out for them.
I love that slogan. That flag is flying high on my flag pole right now. Don’t worry, no need to feel threatened, I’m sure you put your armor on everyday. HE will take care of you. ❤️🙏🏻
I used to eat at Chinese buffets all the time. Boy are they good! Until I realized the soybean oil they cooked in was acting like a female hormone and making me cry constantly. There's a thread on Great Awakening posted maybe yesterday or the day before about how soybean oil is really really bad for you. Everything in a Chinese restaurant is cooked in soybean oil.
Thank you. Now I know why I can cry at the drop of a hat. Do you reckon John Bainer ate a lot of Chinese too? Haha.
I don't even need the drop of a hat! I remember telling a doc several years ago that merely stepping on an ant would cause a major outburst. I was trying to attribute the crying to something happening TO me, rather than something I was eating.
I know that there is a phobia of crying as I used to work at a mental institution aka asylum when I was younger. There was a lady on my ward that constantly cried for no reason. That was why she was in there. Some of the stupidest reasons to put a person in a institution. But it was caused by severe depression which I don't think you or I have.
Most of the time I don't even ask my husband if he's packing. A hand on his hip tells me and he knows I'm checking🤣 I check because sometimes he accidentally leaves it in the console. I really need to take the concealed carry course.
Hopefully you already have your concealed carry permit. You need it if you're ever left in a vehicle with somebody else's gun. Check with your local sheriff's office. The one in my county holds free gun safety classes about every quarter. Once we pass the class, we are allowed to use their gun range for free anytime a class lecture is going on. The classes are 2 hours of lecture followed by 2 hours on the (outdoor) shooting range.
Around here x law enforcement or gun experts teach the classes. It's normally held at the local volunteer fire department. I've several acres I can practice. I'd like to go to a gun range. Thanks for info.
Lo siento, pero hablo muy poco Español.
I think that most Mexicans have access to US TV so they probably speak fluent American. As for caps, I tend to choose caps at random when buying, choosing sturdiness and color over whatever they are advertising. However, I bought one recently that proclaimed "SPORT". At age 72 I'm not very sporty, so I went over one letter with a sharpie so it now says "PORT". lol More suitable for a man of my girth!
I'm sorry that you live in an area where you feel the need for a weapon. Where I live, guns are used for hunting and wedding celebrations.
Not until recently. I live in a small town and now suddenly I can't go to town without running into people of different backgrounds who I know just arrived. Therefore, since we don't know who they are, my husband usually wears his gun strapped to him. Yesterday being in a restaurant, he thought it safe to go inside without one. But next time, most likely will.
My hubby always carries.
Mine keeps his in the truck and locks it when it's a restaurant. But he really needs to carry it everywhere.
