Yes I totally agree. All my software projects end up with me also doing the part that someone else can't figure out. It's weird because I'm under fifty and not even a man. But diversity hires suck so bad they still need me.
I remember as a soldier watching college educated soldiers getting promoted over experienced ‘time in grade’ soldiers and seeing the mistakes, thinking “sometimes education does not trump learned or hands on experience”.
I am a concrete contractor. Im watching the kids be dumb as fuck laying down a driveway yesterday trying not to yell. I kept quiet and just shook my head. I turned to walk away and one of my older guys is standing 6 or 8 feet behind me with a big smile on his face. He says to me "It hurts sometimes, doesnt it?"
Yes, yes it does. They are so stupid I sometimes feel physical pain. They do this shit everyday how can they make it so hard?
Salt water environment is unforgiving, let alone salt air which may or may not had anything to do with the sub sinking , but salt air would surely compromise the electronic systems especially one designed for living room use on games. If they could , that's where I'd look first, maybe took them into a dive and didn't get signal for correction. Just my thoughts.

On the other hand, dying companies mean 50 year old competent white guys with kids can't find work.

Great article, Thanks!
I don't see that as an aircraft mechanic in oklahoma. We have many very good young mechanics.
As an amateur/hobby machinist descended from professionals in that field - much respect for your skills.
May not be able to do what you do, but know enough to appreciate what guys like you can accomplish.

Read this yesterday. Can't say I didn't know this, but it's laid out so methodically even a twit could get the picture
