Could be, it's just not very wide in its reach. Most of the people I'm aware of who are on welfare aren't people who would pose a threat to the government. The aged, the lame, the mentally deficient, drug addicts... All the able-bodied people I know are model citizens, work for their money, and are damned fed up with our government.
Yeah...but at least between welfare and SS benefits and $ for all the illegals...it adds up to a certain percentage of the population......
I guess it is difficult to give them (us) "bread" while running a eugenics program...
At the moment it sucks to be a middle class, white, hard-working, self-sufficient American...I do believe they are trying to wipe out the middle class...so all that's left are those dependent on government handouts...
There are just so many things that are going on simultaneously...it gets overwhelming...
Indeed it DOES get overwhelming... almost. However, I don't think[THEY] realize that [THEY] are inadvertently creating a new class of people who are becoming hardened to their plans and who will be their worst adversaries when TSHTF. If things get spicy and the 'boogaloo' kicks off, "walking down the street" will be the least of their worries.... just surviving to the next day will be their constant worry.
Good video...great addendum...this meets the goal of making people depend totally on the government for survival, which equals total control...we are certainly moving toward people wanting/needing this in order to survive...
I think it's simpler than what people are postulating. The "bread" in "bread and circuses" literally referred to the bread they sold in or near circuses. All modern stadiums have endless food choices within the stadium that are far overpriced, but increasingly good in quality and variety. These endless overly expensive food options within the stadium are the "bread" and the game is the circus.
True enough, but in the historical nature of governments placating the masses, the "circuses" were accompanied by "bread." "Bread and Circuses."
The Roman historian Juvenal originated the phrase, "“Two things only the people anxiously desire — bread and circuses.”
So where is the bread? People are having a hard time of it right now, and granted, some get welfare, but not everyone.
But true enough, we certainly do have our circuses, led by the Clown In Chief in the White House.
I think the bread is the entire welfare system...

And THAT, my friend, would be hilarious to watch.

Where is the bread?
We are baking it now.
