I actually had some idiot say that to me when I pointed out that flu cases were virtually nonexistent during the first two years of covid. It's unbelievable how people will twist reality to fit their mis-conception about things.
My supervisor said same in a team meeting one day. I thought he was being sarcastic. Talking to him later, I was not so sure. He got mad at me during a 1:1 when I refused to state my vax status for the company.
I had a few morons tell me that. I just laugh in their face and give them the facts. Then I politely ask them to avoid sounding retarded in the future.
It did make me realize, again, how nurses are indoctrinated to repeat the party line of whomever declares themselves an authority. Kind of sad. I was taught to critically think.
Clearly mask wearing stopped the flu, duh! /sarc

my liberal friend said it when I pointed this out to him.

Was going to say the same thing
My friend, a fellow RN, told me this with a straight face.
It's such a good argument though. So incredibly stupid but if you're arguing with stupid, there's not much to say back.
I didn't say a word. Nothing to say.
