I'm starting this thread in an effort to locate other church members who are awake and based. I discovered that there are two based members here at GAW by the user names of Angela84 and DeplorableMimi that posted in this thread.
I am so very happy and relieved that they spoke up and let it be known which church they attend. Up until tonight, I thought I was the only awake church member in the whole church. Yes, seriously.
I've been a long time member of the church. I have been struggling with frustration ever since the covid fiasco started. I have been filled with silent anger with the church leadership for allowing the government to enforce social distancing practices and masks inside our church buildings.
For a long time I didn't go to church because of that anger. I kept thinking if the church prophets were real prophets, why didn't they inform the church members of the truth? Why did the church leadership allow the government to dictate to us what we do in our own church? There's supposed to be a separation of church and state yet the government was forcing us to abide by social distancing practices and wearing masks.
Why didn't the church president come out and tell us the truth? Why did the church president allow the church to be pushed around by the government that is so corrupted with evil? These are the questions I was struggling with for two years and I still struggle with today. I keep wishing and wishing my fellow church members would just wake up! By the shear numbers of us, we could be a strong force against this evil we're living under if we were all awake. So today during sacrament meeting and elders quorum meeting, I sat there silently like I usually do. After elders quorum meeting was over, I quietly walked to my car like I usually do and went home.
I hope very much that the moderators don't delete this thread. I'm just trying to locate more people like myself so that I don't have to feel so alone all the time. I keep wishing I could find brothers and sisters who are awake like me.
I'm a member. I had the same questions. But this is what I have prayed about and thought about: We have been told in the past that we will not be instructed in all things and that especially in the last days (the last days could be any length of time and if we are not in it, we are nearing that period) we will need to be close to the Holy Ghost and have a strong sense of discernment.
I know that the Democrats are not democrats anymore, but are basically communist. I believe that communism is evil. The suppression of freedom and the desire for liberty was the basis for the war in Heaven, when Satan and 1/3 of the hosts of Heaven were cast out. So we know that liberty/free agency is the side we were on before.
The church is under attack in Utah. Twenty-two buildings were burglarized and damaged in the last few days here. In order for church to maintain its tax-free status it must remain neutral on politics. The left is attacking and destroying anyone and any business that does not comply with the narrative. I truly think that the church HAD to join in on the distancing and the masking and the encouraging but not commanding people to get the vaccine. We are free to choose. But I feel that the left would have attacked the church unmercifully and perhaps caused great harm to the church's stated purposes. I believe that this was one of the times we had to use our own discernment. We won't be instructed in all things. We've been told that we have to be in tune with the spirit constantly to know the truth.
Just my two or three cents worth.
I remember when a church in West Valley burned from arson like three times in a couple of months about fifteen or eighteen years ago.
I also remember when gay group "Soul Force" showed up in Rexburg, ID and suddenly a bunch of churches got vandalized. Totally couldn't be related, right?
Fear not the reproach of men? I wonder.
I guess it means to fear not the reproachment of men because they may do all manner of earthly harm but they cannot destroy your spirit and your relationship with Heavenly Father, which is more important.
