What I don't understand is how many people who call themselves Trump supporters or Christians who hate Israel. Has their government done vile things over the years? Sure. But it's not even close to the number of vile things our own government has done. Those are God's chosen people, and he's not done with them yet. Trump is and always has been a great supporter of Israel. How can you support that man but hate his policies I have no idea.
You would have to read the Bible to fully understand. He chose Abraham to be the father of a great nation. He chose them to carry his faith. In the end times he chose them to be tested during the great Tribulation. He chose them to father the Son of Man Jesus Christ and to give Grace to all mankind. There are dozens of ways they are chosen but probably better explained by someone who can articulate it better than me.
The Bible contains numerous verses that explain why God chose the people of Israel and the purpose behind this divine election. Here are some key verses:
Deuteronomy 7:6 (NIV): "For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession."
Exodus 19:5-6 (NIV): "Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites."
Genesis 12:2-3 (NIV): "I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse, and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."
Isaiah 43:1 (NIV): "But now, this is what the Lord says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: 'Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.'"
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV): "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"
These verses collectively emphasize that God chose Israel as His special people for a purpose:
1. To be a holy and treasured nation.
2. To serve as a kingdom of priests and a light to the nations.
3. To fulfill God's covenant promises made to Abraham.
4. To be a blessing to the world, ultimately through the coming of the Messiah (Jesus).
5. To demonstrate God's faithfulness and love.
These are just a few of the verses that illustrate the divine election of Israel and the purpose behind it in the biblical narrative.
Clearly chosen to do evil. Now is that Yahweh that is evil?
Why did the first Christian’s believe Jesus was sent to save us from the evil god Yahweh ? Kinda destroys the whole chosen people argument. But to find this perspective takes a curious and analytical mind. It seems you have that gift too.
Support the remnant (1/3) in Israel whom God will save through Daniels 70th week. The other 2/3rds will be wiped off the map:
Zechariah 13:8 (NIV): “In the whole land,” declares the Lord, ‘two-thirds will be struck down and perish; yet one-third will be left in it.’”
Also, don’t forget where the Anti-Christ sets up his headquarters: the Third Temple in Jerusalem.
Daniel 9:27 (NIV): “He [Anti-Christ] will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple, he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.”
Matthew 24:15-16 (NIV): “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel [See above verse in Daniel] —let the reader understand—then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.”
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (NIV): “Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness [Anti-Christ] is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.”
And do the work we're called to do to include as many in the remnant as possible. Nobody is going to be jealous of the trash opinions and ignorant hatred displayed within this thread and across these forums by people taking the Messiah's name in vain and profaning it before His brethren in the flesh.
Trump is well intended. But has limitations just like anyone else. Is still not late for him to become aware of more things. We should continue to learn and grow. I don’t have to fully support 100% of his ideas to recognize he is a good man. He could be mistaken on some things like any other human. I agree with him mostly except his public support for Israel.
It's amazing how many down votes you got on this comment. People will reap what they sow. The Way is narrow and few find it. The Gate is narrow and few enter therein. It will be interesting to see where the chips fall come judgement day.

chosen for what exactly? asking for a friend

I have read and studied the Bible, as well as many other ancient texts. I continue to do this.
I remain unconvinced of who chose them or for what purpose by any account.

Then you should pray for discernment. The Bible is pretty clear in that regard.

God's Chosen People? Read the entire book of Romans. Paul the Apostle would disagree with you.
I have and I completely disagree with your assessment.
Chapter 11 of Romans pretty much refutes this idiotic perspective. Good for you for recognizing that.

Most of the evil done by America is do to them controlling our leaders.
Then you shouldn't support Trump. Why would you support someone who you claim is supporting this great evil? I don't understand.

Now say that about any Jew. Your inability to give the benefit of the doubt to a majority of people you neither know nor understand speaks volumes.
The swamp is Israeli-manufactured.
