So Israel has banned guns as well? I did not know that.
I believe the USA is the ONLY country in the world that "allows" people to own guns without excuse (like, I need it for hunting.)
That really surprises me. Once again, our forefathers are to be thanked. Thanks.
Indeed. But it's not that other countries never had arms, they just gave them up. Notably, and relatively recently (historically speaking) Australia and Great Britain. That's the insidious thing that some governments do. If they don't take them away by force, they convince the citizens to give them up peacefully, for the 'good of society.' They emphasize the rare crazy person on a shooting spree and cleverly never, ever, ever mention that (at least in the case of the USA) we have them to keep our government in check. To protect ourselves from the tyrants that inevitably come to control. So many brain dead people never think about this. When governments disarm the people, the people are no longer free.
NOTICE how the idiot congcritters have stopped talking about gun control. Esp. since 26 STATES DO NOT REQUIRE A CONCEALED WEAPON PERMIT!!!!!
I thought the Swiss were required to have them, as if they were all automatically in a militia.
The Swiss shoot a lot and have access to full auto. I once thought they kept their FA arms at home but saw something recently about a community arms stash.. I wonder if they have as many unregistered uncontrolled firearms freely in citizens control. Having arms doesn't count if I need to go to the armory or gun club to get it during an emergency but maybe that's okay if they just need to check out their FA and everything else is home. Every subdivision in the USA should have a rifle stash.
I remember reading a long time ago that the Swiss were all included in the Swiss army. They kept status as active until retirement. At the time they were using the Sig 550 series battle rifles. When they reached "retirement" age, they had the option to have their service weapon down converted to semi-auto and allowed to keep the firearm. I don't know if this is still the case.
I read an account that they are going to open up the shooting ranges so the people can get their weapons. They must not be allowed to store them at home. I know that the UK does this, not sure about Israel.
How interesting. Thanks.
