Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Am I a bad person because eclipses do nothing for me? I am the type of person who appreciates flower bushes outside stores, random pups on walks, and notices the moon everyday even when it is just a regular moon
But the overhyped, everyone talking about them eclipses do nothing for me
Same. What's the big deal.. moon sun , just source of light like lightbulbs to me. I appreciate God's creation, sure, but is more excited bout more important things.
I was at a function today and someone was passing out these eclipse viewing glasses and I got to see it. I’ve never been able to before. It was cool but yeah, I agree. Nature, in itself is incredible. I appreciate the early morning stars or moon or the birds chirping or whatever I see outside a lot more. I’ve seen stars (or planets) in the early morning that I thought “no freaking way this is so bright to the naked eye” and things like that. I don’t think you’re bad, LOL.
I think they're really cool and don't come around constantly, but they are also important to note because of the damage they can do to our eyes and the eyes of our pets if unprotected.
I'd rather see it after the fact than plan my day around a couple minutes anyway.
Some of the telescope images are really cool.
Eclipses or full moons? As someone who knows people who were in policing and mental health institutes the full moon definitely does something to some people
