If I had the means to buy gold, I wouldn't do it to get rich, or even to combat inflation. It would be just so I could pay off debt if gold really soared.
But then again, if gold really soars then maybe the entire system is failing and I can just stop trying to pay the debts I have?
Regardless, from a big picture perspective will the cabal (or White Hats for that matter) allow people who stacked gold to suddenly become ultra wealthy, or have such financial leverage?
That's an age old question that keeps coming up. It seems no matter what the common man does he can never catch a break. I liken it to a person that purchased a home 5 years ago that looks at the market values of today and thinks they should sell their home NOW for to the prices in the market. Sell today, pocket the $150k+ that their home is worth now, but then what? If you were to say try to buy another home you'd find that your paying that extra money and then some only to end up holding more debt.
The one thing that keeps stackers going is knowing that the current system is truly fiat. What does that mean though if the economy truly does take a shit? I will tell ya, biblically it means that people will be throwing gold and silver in the street eventually because you can't eat it and there will be such a lack of goods to buy that the common man will have no use for it.
Cashing in your stack today will net you nothing but fiat, although one could invest in say Bitcoin and pray it goes to the moon, but then again if an apocalyptic event happens and the systems go down, or the power is out, then people will throw their computers in the street because even that will be worthless.
So what's the best answer to the unknown? What's the common denominator between all of the scenarios? Food security, shelter security, and community security. The truth is that the individual alone stands no chance for survival unless they are part of a group. The gold, silver, gems etc are always nice to hold because in a sane monetary system those assets are always historically solid. In the end the true investment that will always pay off is preparation. No amount of shiny metals will be worth anything if the shit hits the fan. Think about what would be worth it's weight in gold and buy it today. I guarantee that when and if the day comes that you need survival stashes, on that day you wouldn't trade an ounce of food for a pound of gold.
All that being said, however, if somehow we can avoid cataclysm, of course having precious metals is always a solid hedge against fiat. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. In closing, the best idea is always to diversify. But some precious metals, but also buy some food stuffs, lamp oil, canned gas, solar panels, water purifiers etc etc etc. No matter what you invest in, one of your investments at least should pay off, just don't go balls deep into cogswells cogs alone, spread your money out and make investments into things you can always use, but keep in mind how useful those things may be if the SHTF.
Carry On!!!
Well said! Thanks!
VERY well said!!
" biblically it means that people will be throwing gold and silver in the street eventually because you can't eat it and there will be such a lack of goods to buy that the common man will have no use for it."
I say bullshit on that!
Well friend I sure hope your right then. The biggest issue of supply lines take a shit is the US imports way too much food. Don't forget farmers in the last few years have had their crops purchased and destroyed, food processing plants burned to the ground and winter is coming fast. If I had a food supply and I was food secure, I sure as fuck wouldn't sell it for any gold or silver. I guess we're talking about two different worlds, I remember my grandfather's stories about the Great depression, shoe leather was NOT off the menu.
People are very very very spoiled, if shit hits the fan I'd rather have food, shelter, and security than a pile of gold.
I have gold to not be beholden to the stock market, paper fiat, etc. do I think my holdings will become very valuable some day in the not too distant future, yes.
that being said, if or when when get there we will be living in a new world. anyone that hasn't equipped themselves to survive in this new world may come on very hard times. will a financial stock analyst have a job in this new reality? heck if I know, but I'd think chances are less for them than a carpenter or farmer.
and whoever has the gold which may largely be the new government led by Trump and other white hats, may spread the wealth to we the people who have been robbed for so many years from the bankers, pharma, industrial military complex, etc. also, guys like me who might have more gold than you in this new reality will I expect be generous enough in trade with those who have skills but not many gold coins
anyway you slice it I think it will be glorious and better by far than the existence many currently face
A lot of wisdom in your words. Thanks
I recommend everyone watch Mike Maloney- The Hidden Secrets of Money Series because it talks about many things involving currency/fiat, money and the differences between them. It's very good.
Personally, I'm in it to stave off inflation theft and when the chit goes down and the market manipulators get dealt with (hopefully) - properly valued PM will have appreciated nicely, now that the ball and chains have been cut from the manipulators. JPM being one of the worst, and most documented, offenders.
Just as a yardstick, 10 years ago an ounce of gold was around $1075. Today it's roughly $1975. That's an 83% increase - or 83% decrease in purchasing power, just over 10 years. Compare that to other commodities and durable goods and you can see in many cases it's in lockstep with other things we buy and need. Just look at building materials... it's completely off the charts, although things are not as precious as the c19 years.
My goal is not to hold for shtf trading, but for when sanity returns to the market. There's a whole lotta bubble in way too many things. Au and Ag are recognized and have been since the beginning of modern history, the world over as being valuable. No you're not going to eat it... but stack it and leave it. If for nothing else, you'll have a little treasure when you're old to pass along to the youngsters. It's not going down in price... and rarely has it in recorded history, unless heavily manipulated.
